Added a Slot 1 Intel fan. These fans rotate at 4000rpm and barely make any noise at all. Cutted some things up and pinned the thing down using dual sided tape.

I think there is a huge misunderstanding to what the definition of ghetto mods actually is. adding a stock intel fan to a video card and using a cutting board as a hold down plate with an actually decent copper weld / homemade cpu pot and saying its ghetto is like going to ethiopia and complaining to the kids that havent eaten in a week that you have heartburn from eating too much filet mignon.

lets get back to the actual topic.
This is the highest example of a "ghetto mod"

    9800 pro 128 AGP 8x
Just the fact that im using an agp 8x card in the 21st century should be enough to qualify as "ghetto" but this is just the tip of the iceberg.
"Iceberg" is the key word here guys. icebergs are cold thus the inspiration begind this my latest vga pot design. no need for fancy slim pots for sli. If you're truly ghetto then you know there is now way in hell you can afford anything beyond onboard vga. this 9800 pro was a like striking oil for me. no chance in hell i'll ever have 2 of them. single gfx only here.
okay enough talk. this is my new TA "Turbo" edition vga pot from my Blue Light Special series of mods (patent is still pending though) I can't afford the patent fees right now. times are tough folks. hence the ghetto mod.

    9800 pro 128mb agp 8x

nice insulation using a piece of the crank from an old fishing reel.

using an old swiftech MCW50 h20 vga block I got the tension just right with some springs from 2 bic retractable ball point pens. then i squeezed 2 x 5/8 od 1/2 in id tubes in the holes and wrapped the insulation around the inlets to ensure I dont kill my most prized possession with condensation dripping off the tubes.

now that I had the inlets to the ghetto evaporaror (gpu block) I looked around for something I could use as a fill port. I was going to use a t line and a funnel but then I was looking in my junk drawer in the kitchen and found this old plastic case my shure record needle was packed in.

the record needle package was perfect because it has 1/4 in seal made from high-grade silacone polymer. I drilled 2 holes parallel inside the seal with a drill bit slightly smaller than the OD of the tube so it fit snug.

now this next step is very controversial and still in the beta stage. You all know what evap holes do on a ln2 pot and how it boils fast or slow depending on the design and density of the base. This is a 2 chamber evap design. I had the idea when I was in this head shop in the west village and came across this bong called the "dual chamber meteor bong" basically the ln2 evaporates before it reaches the actual contact block. I put some aluminum foil at the bottom of the main inlet. I figured it looked more legit with the metal foil in there and will make the ln2 push harder to the next stage. then I sealed it with sticky resin I scrapped from an old pipe.

wrapped some more insulation and secured with a shoelace from an old pair of Koston's

once the insulation process is complete I add the appropriate Part ID and branding.

The finished mod ready to test but I need to wait until I get paid next month so I can get the dewar filled. It kills me that all this hard work is just gonna sit in the middle of my living room until the next paycheck clears 3 weeks from now.

thanks ehume. I worked poured my blood sweat and tears into this thing. I hope someday I can get one of those fancy Kingpin ultra slim vga pots but we all know thats never gonna happen. just gonna stay true and make the best of what I have.

(crappy generic hip hop beat kicks in)
Yo... its always a dice throw in the ghetto mods scenario.
do I blow it all at once on a kingpin pot
or spend the money on ln2 and use what Ive got.
its the same muthfckn crap from day one.
I be overclocking in the ghetto trying to get a decent run.
i'm audi 5 and financially bound
just waiting in shadow till the next ghetto child throws down.

Open air cardboard chassis made from a simple slab of cardboard. Holds up the weight pretty well I think

I've done a lot of ghetto side fan mods on friends ty cases. They usually helped with GPU temps with the cool air blowing on it.

What is visible is 2cm deep. There is another 2cm deep cradle to the rear, supporting the back of the HD. The vertical foam keeps it in place when the rig is moved, and keeps the CCL converter stuck to its adhesive at the top.

Boy, I don't see a PCI-Express adapter. It looks like the AGP card is just slotted into the PCI-E slot. I remember Albatron making one back in the day but I don't think it ever made it to market. I like the OCZ memory voltage booster. Up to 3.9 volts...good times with BH-5's...

grabbed my friends 450D, so went a lil overboard with pics, sorry!

    the case in question:

    a Lian Li PC-201B

how to get more airflow thru ur coolermaster 4-in-3:

reverse mount them, ^ like so. then, get some double-sided tape & place fans in the front-end plate thingy, like this:

in the above pic u can see the rear fan in top bay device - essentially push-pull fan config as u can see the bottom bay device is full (with 4x RaptorX )

still looks the same @ front:

edit: NOTE: if mounting the bay devices like this, angled SATA data cables & 'T' SATA power cables are a MUST, anything else is not an option!

& how to get more HDDs in ur Lian Li V2000/V2100/PC-201:

mount ur PSU in bottom, then cut holes: 1 for 120mm fan, 4 for fan screws.. like so:

if u cut the hole too big (like I did) cover excess with duct tape
the case now can hold 24 HDDs
edit: castors/wheels are a mod too.. will be changing them out for 2-wheels per axle & all 4 will be braked, for a more 'industrial' look

not all that ghetto - but practical
