Exclamation New Windows Beta SMP v5.92 client

    YES! It's true. But...
to be clearThis client is temporarily only for 32bit operation systems
... (support fro 64bt coming "soon")

New beta windows smp client is ready. Kasson's post at official phorums

So it's still beta and not yet for the 64 bit Windows, I strongly suggest to read the instructions carefully

Thanks for the heads up sc00p! I will be a happy man if this works great with Vista.

Remember 32 bit win os's only ! at this stage.

Yes... mostly a stability upgrade which is very nice. I'll installing in ~2 hours. Cannot interrupt clients now closing 100%. I would be shooting myself again if those pooped wus.

Interesting, I ran the SMP beta on vista x64 with 0 issues aside from that one small quirk which I think was caused by the internet connection getting disconnected.

    +1

thanks for the heads up sc00p, though idk if I'll upgrade volentarily.

The first beta actually caused me fewer problems then the one's which came after it, and the current one on x64 vista has given me ZERO problems so far.

I think it just says it's not officialy supported

I'm running the current beta on vista x64 for quite some time and never had an issue. Infact it had less issues on Vista then it had on 32bit XP for me atleast.

Edit: nope feedback thread says diffrent sorry hadn't read that yet till now

Yeah the one quad that has Vista is the 32bit version. So hopefully this helps me. I don't know why its being a for. I had Vista32 on my rig at one point and the only prob I had was I couldn't shut it down without losing the WU.

Never had any issues with XP32/64 yet.

I hope so too. I've had that prob under XP32bit always since last time installed after the older expired and I would lose wus every time without workaround... so going to be installing now.

I tried it out but I couldn't get it to run. The new install.bat installs some new software that seems to hang my FaH. Maybe there was something simple I was missing, but I just went back to 5.91 and it works fine...

Seems the feedback thread has no one reporting a stall beside you? You sure you followed instructions? Bleh stupid question I know

Firewall permission? What exactly you mean with stall, got a core status message?

Hmmm, I actually didn't even read the instructions so it's probably user error. But here's what I did...

I installed 5.91, then extracted the content of the zip file into my FaH directory (overwriting anything that was duplicated). Then I ran install.bat. It installed some funky program that I don't remember the name of, something about creating a secure store point.

After that I ran FaH.exe and it would download a WU, then sometimes say I had a CPU fault, and other times say there was a download error. It was never able to actually start a WU.

5.91 is working fine though... so I have a hard time believing the CPU and download errors were real.

I should probably read the instructions next time.

So... I got (that my specific) problems still as the same as with 5.91 client, but!...

    ...running project 2653 (@9x403, 4-5-5-15):
    5.91 = 10 min 33 secs per frame
5.92 = increased dramatically to 12 min 43 per frame

...installed v5.91 back and folding dual smps happily (hopefully) again

    bleah that's not good scoop.
Did you check to see if AC was running with the 5.92?

    Yup, yes, and right...
...ac was doing it's magic and I got this client running straight_away, but it's gone now.
5.91 ftw, frame times back to where they supposed to be
I might wait for the final version
