1. Have a read through the thread and see what others have achieved. Don't be lazy and make users repeat themselves for everybody who is too lazy to use search.
2. Performance is better. Both slots at 16x electrical on the X48, where as the P45 drops each slot to 8x electrical on dual card cause the P45 only has 16 PCI-E 2.0 electrical lanes.
3. VRM is plenty fine on the RF for high dual core FSB, i'm positive many guys can push 600MHz FSB. The P5Q has a slightly stronger VRM when it comes to OC'ing quads.

Ok asus is starting to piss me off badly!
I bought my Rampage Formula 2 months ago knowing that it is a great motherboard. When i received my board i used it for a week out of the case to get to know the motherboard. After that i started building it into my cosmos s. Guess what?! It blew a capacitor (or how you might call it) and the entire board quit working (after hitting the on switch!)
So ofcourse i rma'd the motherboard and this is the response i got from them:
Because of faulty overclocking we can not repair your board or send you a new one.
Well.... that's all good if i had actually overclocked on the board... but i didn't even get to that point!
Here is a photo of the chip that was blown up:
Is there any way i can directly contact asus instead of contacting my distributor that contacts asus for me... I dont' really get the feeling they are trying very hard to convince asus that this is not my fault....

Contact motherboardpro, when I had my LLC issue, I contacted them, and they put me in direct contact with a very helpful asus rep. I even said I was overclocking, and they were fine with that, and said that they set up a system similar to mine and used the same bios settings (overclocked!) but could not reproduce my issue. In the end, I got an advance RMA and it worked out perfectly.

So he made a call with asus and my motherboard is not rma'ed and a new one is on it's way (will be send out tomorrow).
Thanks for the help guys!

Amazing the power of the XS forums !
As long as we keep it civil & repectful in our complaints about Vendors . By stating fully the whole facts from the start , asking about remedies on how to solve problems,It really does make a difference . The best advertizing is word of mouth & that is a 2-way street both negative & positive . Any Vendor that wants to keep customers coming back will heed this forum . As i've RMA'ed a R/F back to Asus & had a new MoBo back in my hands in less than 7 days
Good job on everyone's part , including the Vendor , it's good business to support the product you sell & it's good For businesses/buyers to report problems supported with facts .
@ Remcokatz >> Great to hear you have a MoBo coming to you ..
I'm quite happy about it yes.

I sent you a pm bigslappy. I got my Q9650 installed and i got it stable at 4.02GHZ. But I had to set the vcore to 1.3625v(reading @ 1.3v) to overcome the vdroop(drops to 1.26-1.27) when under load. I set LLC to auto. I may try it with the vdroop control enabled.

as i haven't really had the time to fine tune this O/C .
I'm really letting it burn-in for awhile @ 4ghz
I suggest u let the CPU burn in a few day's before pushing it HARD too early ' I let mine idle at stock settings for the 1st 24 hours' or u could damage it

these are some Cherry CPU's coming out of Intel right NOW ! & they are not gonna be around very long as Intel has already said that these are to be phased out after SOON the Core i7 chips hit the market

Intel is sayin they don't want to compete with it's self on some of their best chips with the NEW Core i7's

I got a strange problem, after weeks of stability on my computer, I noticed this, quite recently.
When I plug my ipod touch in (or take it out), it crashes my system.
Any ideas? I've not overclocked my PC at all...
Thanks.

Quick question to anyone with a crossfire setup on this board, similar setup to mine. I can run 3.6GHZ prime blend stable with single card, but when i put the other card in, my NB temps rise and 3.2ghz is all prime blend wants to be stable at. I know NB temp raise is from crossfire, but temps are fine, i have 4 120mm fans on the side of my HAF 932, also the NB is cooled by a Thermaltake Spirit II cooler, any ideas??? thanks.
more vNB? lol and loosen Performance Level by 1.

Hi Guys... Is There Any Improvement For 0410Bios
Currently Using 0407
Thanks...
I tried that, ill mess with it some more today after work, see what i can come up with, its very wierd to me, but im sure it has something to do with the nb, when i raise the voltage to around 1.49v it fails instantly, when i lower it, it fails within 2 minutes, so higher voltage is a no go, very mysterious behavior.
Also im using Bios 0308 as its the best for memory performance. I have tried 0408 results are the same. Any help from someone who has dealt with the same situation is much appreciated, thanks.

I get from Asus support the new 501 BIOS that would correct the "no boot" issue with many PCIe RAID disk controllers.
I will test it tonight and let you know.
Probably it wil be published very soon in usual channels.
i also would appreciate if you could share this bios with us
- even it does not work as expected for you
(having lot of troubles with my adaptec controller)
Here the link!
By the way, it solved my issue with my PCIe RAID disk controller.
I haven't any responsability for troubles or damages caused by this BIOS in your systems.
