I would build a new system if I could find a sponsor.

Every time I've got some money to spend on a new build I need it for something else. It's depressing but what can I do.

I hope to get the graphics card soon from CaseKing but it looks like it's going to take a very long time. The AquaGraFX GTX 760 waterblock is currently not available.

I can confirm that 1002b-R8.ROM works fine on my ASUS Rampage Formula X48 board. I don't use RAId so I couldn't test it.

With my AquaGraFX watercooled Inno3D GeForce GTX 760 graphics card and a LG D2343P passive 3D screen it's like having a complete new system. There's no official 3D vision 2 support for the screen but you can get it to run with a little hack.

Here's a link to modded Intel Rapid Storage Technology drivers. It makes it possible to use the new versions on the ASUS Rampage Formula board because every official Intel version after 10.8.0.1003 no longer works.

Official version 10.8.0.1003 can be found here.

It's an old board but it's still good enough.

This should give you a good idea how it performs with a GTX 760.

Crysis resolution 1920 x 1080 and 4 X AA with everything on very high except motion blur. Motion blur is disabled because it doesn't look good.

An old game for an old board.

For people still using the board, modded bios version based on 1001 with specially modded Raid ROM for TRIM from win-raid forums ( Thanks to CPL0 aka Dufus for the mod and Fernando for all the help )

Bios hosted here and tested by user it.expert from TheLab.gr ( relevant post )

It is really amazing how your system gets along with this game.

This is great but it should've been added to the 1002b.ROM.

This is without overclocking the GTX 760.

There's an Intel CPU Microcode update but I didn't check if there are any updates for the CPU that we're using on the ASUS Rampage Formula X48.

It runs without issues with the 1002b-R8.ROM. There's an issue with my GTX 760 on my board but I think it's because of the NVIDIA Linux drivers. I don't have this issue with Windows 7 X64. The latest Linux drivers improved a lot but it still isn't crash free.

My friend that has the board, recently started having a problem to boot with other settings than default. He also had 2 incidents of "Cmos checksum error". Any thoughts ?

I think it is the bios chip, so i ordered one to see if a new chip fixes the situation. ATM he doesn't shut down, only sleep mode, since he managed to boot with the OC profile.

Other than that, Q6600 rockin' stable 3.6@1.38V

Is it the first time he's using the 1002B ROM?

If it's the first time than he can't use his old overclock profile. The old overclock profile won't match for the 1002b ROM because of new overclock settings added to the BIOS. He can try with pushing the Clear CMOS button for a minute. Disable the PSU switch if he has one or remove the power cable so there's no power going to the board any more and remove the battery.

With the BIOS installed a 3TB Seagate HDD shows up as 801.6GB in both IDE & AHCI mode in the BIOS. (746.52GiB)
Is there any BIOS that can address HDD's above 2.2TB for the Rampage Formula? (Mine is actually a converted Maximus Formula)

It would appear the issues I described in my previous post is only a cosmetic problem, the disks can be accessed.
Edit: That being said be extremely careful with standard IDE mode, it may corrupt the drives when you write over the 2.12TB barrier!

Of course per my usual luck the LSI 8704ELP RAID controller I have does not support drives above 2TB in size.
Tried using the mainboards built in RAID5 but that wont play along with the LSI card, I still need that installed for my Seagate Cheetah 15k rpm SAS drive.
The system simply hangs after POST when the system is supposed to boot, there are some strange characters output on the screen. (See below).
If I disable the RAID orom (i.e. switch to AHCI or IDE) then it boots fine.
And if I remove the LSI card then it also boots fine.

Is there an option in LSI Configuration Menu to disable boot option for this card ? Or any megacli command ?

Also, are you running latest LSI bios ?
