Low miles and it looks spotless.

80k motorway miles could leave the car in better shape than 20k 'in town' miles, as long as its been properly looked after and its fine mechanically you shouldn't really let the high milage put you off too much. Its certainly a reason to ask them to cut the price quite a bit you should be able to wrangle them down to 6k-ish, and have the highest spec trim, and engine excluding the ST.

80k in 3 years means it was probably mostly highway driving, which is great for cars. I'd rather take a car that was driving 80k on the highway, vs. a car with 20k that was only driven for short 3 minute trips.

My dad has put about 24k a year on his car, and some 1998 van here made news because it has 1,000,000 miles, and it is on the stock engine and tranny.

Most i've ever put on in terms of mileage, is about 5500 a year max.

And yes, why the hell did Ford US make the Focus look so UGLY?

Soon Europe built US cars will be flooding the US which is good for them, if they can build them down to a the price that matters.

It's weird that the best US cars are built in Europe and not then available to the US. Go figure.....

    Talking

In the immortal words of Hiro Nakamura....

    "I DID IT!"

I am now the proud owner of this:

    http://www.bristoltradecentre.co.uk/...back_29878.htm

1.6 Ford DLD-416 engine (110hp, not the 90), Zetec Climate Spec too!

Cost? £7000 OTR, negotiated £990 off the price, and got them to throw in the tax (£66) and 'service' fee (£149) for free

I waved CASH at them to make them see the light, and the bonus is, i'm getting it DELIVERED TO MY DOOR on Friday morning, freshly valeted, waxed and polished!

    Can i deal, or what?

Oh, word of advice, some of the cars that were advertised, were advertised at the FINANCE price, and not the cash price....years ago, Cash price used to be CHEAPER, now they charge you an extra £1000 for the privilege? How does that work?!

Oh, and always go in with a stupidly low offer, and work ALL the angles. Mine would have been £8295 or so had i not browbeaten the salesman, who looked like he was about to get fired....eh, i ended up with what i wanted, for only marginally more than i wanted, at far less than it was profitable for them

Nice move Kai! That car looks great (love the color) and you got a great deal. When we bought our 2004 Jeep GC we moved the price from $42500 to $34750 "out-the-door" (all surcharges, taxes and fees taken care of) it only took 4 hours of pressure, leaving the dealer for 2 hours, coming back and offering them the low blow price. Needless to say, we got the Jeep.

True, i had to spend about 3 hours haggling, but it as worth it i reckon. Since this is second hand, theres not a lot of profit in it....i think they ended up making a LOSS on it

And the colour? Thats Royal Air Force Blue!

That looks really good Kai, good buy.

    Awful weather today though?

EDIT: Why do you need a key to open the hood? In the US there is usually just a switch or a button under the dash?

As for the colour, well, its not too bad i guess! Do you not get that in the states?
Yeah, I heard about the supra... thats pretty bad news.

Nope, we dont even get that model Focus in the states. We have this ugly hodgepodge that runs on a MK1 chassis.

We get this colour instead: http://thumbs.automart.com/imgs/ag/a...1530011000.jpg

Yeah i know the US Focus is a butchered Mk1....what was wrong with the Mk2? Then again, we had the Focus in 1998, you took at least 3 years longer to get even that one, and then you buggered around with that by adding stupid lights to it

And my GOD that colour is ugly! *look of horror*

Wow...i just specced up the same Focus on ford.co.uk - the 5-door 1.6 TDCi 110PS with the same paint, same interior and same options comes to.....£17,425!!!

So i saved £10,425 or $20,606 just by getting a model that was 2 1/2 years old

    Main Rig

    Intel Core i7-2600K (SLB8W, E0 Stepping) @ 4.6Ghz (4.6x100), Corsair H80i AIO Cooler

    Get an Escort Cosworth!

    Or a Sierra Cosworth

or if you can track one down, a Mercedes 190E Cosworth
"To exist in this vast universe for a speck of time is the great gift of life. Our tiny sliver of time is our gift of life. It is our only life. The universe will go on, indifferent to our brief existence, but while we are here we touch not just part of that vastness, but also the lives around us. Life is the gift each of us has been given. Each life is our own and no one else's. It is precious beyond all counting. It is the greatest value we have. Cherish it for what it truly is."
