    NEW Xigmatek HSF - 4x 8mm Heatpipes!

    It's the Xigmatek HDT-S1284 (Achilles)

New design incorporates 4x 8mm pipes in a staggard configuration (something like the TRUE-120).

    Note, the S1283 used 3x 8mm pipes.

    http://www.xigmatek.com/product/air-achilless1284.php

I'd love to get my hands on this! Hopefully, they keep the price close to the S1283 to keep things competitive!

I bought the S1283 as an interim before I finish the watercooling project and I must say I'm pretty impressed. Temps are pretty cool and it's not that noisy; a fair price as well. An extra set of cooling pipes can only be a good thing?

In the same family as the sleeve bearing is basically all I know. Supposedly longevity of ball bearing and low noise of sleeve...not sure about positional deficiencies though.

I think rifle bearing is where they put rifling into the axle, which in turn causes it to act like corkscrew, moving oil constantly around the axle. It's supposed to solve the problem of sleeve bearings being mounted horizontally. Check it out on wikipedia.

    Hi Ar3s,

I like your sense of humour. (Never mind the quality, feel the width.)

But putting that aside, is there any other pictures of the S1284 or perhaps a review?

Looking forward to some good news,

    David

    from wiki
Rifle bearing fans are similar to sleeve bearing, but are even quieter and have almost as much lifespan as ball bearings. The bearing has a spiral groove in it that pumps fluid from a reservoir. This allows them to be mounted vertically (unlike sleeve bearings), since the fluid being pumped lubricates the top of the shaft.[5] The pumping also ensures sufficient lubricant on the shaft, reducing noise, and increasing lifespan.
wow very interesting, saw a cheap Xigmatek fan being sold with rifle bearing, I dismissed it, a few users reported it being "a very good quiet fan that pushes good air" he even said it is better than his S-Flex F.
