what rendering modes will you be using during quad sli test while running 3dmark 06. I have tried the 173.67 in XP and get no quad sli selection. I talked with a buddy who got off the phone today and the tech at EVGA said no quad sli driver until next tuesday.

I have also tried 174.53 in XP and no dice for quad sli selection. Vista runs ok but I don't like the scores. I get something like 16606 for one card with overclocks of 740/1125. I'm at 3.6 ghz with a q6600. I also think that the quad sli isn't running in vista. You can select it, but the scores aren't much better than a single card.

I just got 16332 in XP with one card at gpu 735 memory 1125 and shader 1837

I have a 780i with memory running at 800 mhz. It looks like my scores are cpu limited. The 790i appears to be the ticket. I have on on step up. Can you recommend any ddr3 for about 300 or so?
    I get 16,365 w/ my 8800GTS-512 w/o v-mod & quad @ 3.8GHz.

    I get 17,705 w/ my 8800GTS-512 w/ v-mod (864/2268/1150) & quad @ 3.8GHz.

Your scores look like you only have 1 GPU working.

It will be interesting to see how this scales against Hipro's numbers with dual HD3870X2 cards....which were on air during his run:

    LINK

Also interesting how somehow the ATI cards suffer in the CPU Score department even though Hipro's CPU was clocked higher that the one we see in this thread.

IMO, it will be REALLY close between the HD3870X2 and the 9800GX2 once we see more HD3870X2 LN2 results.

Yes CF "damages" the CPU score,I wonder why is that?

I think that is not CF that hits CPU score, Vista is the one to Blame.

Single card GX2/X2 tests can be run on XP, but 2x GX2/X2 is only possible under Vista.

Not sure about that. This can be tested easily by running it with one card installed then installing the second and running it again and checking the CPU score.

Aw man, Vince. You're making me want to switch back to nvidia again. This combination of the 790i and the GX2 sure is tempting

Does anyone know if there's going to be a 790i with DDR2 support? I really don't want Nvidia to leave 95% of us out in the cold for not having DDR3

Since they already offer 780i, I seriously doubt it. I have not yet seen it etched in stone that it WILL NOT happen but so far, every manufacturer I have spoken with says no, no plans for anyone to do 790i + DDR2.

You an find DDR3 now for around $250-$350.00 2GB. Do not buy the DDR3 2000MHz stick that will cost $600.00 Look at the Crucial sticks I got on ebay for $200.00 that can do all of this, compared to the 1800MHz sticks.. And I can go up to 2000MHz as well...

Jason, what OS did you bench. Are you speaking of only one card the 8800 gts 512?

I am in the process of testing each card individually. I had them both in the compture before. One bad card may be slowing them down.

    (Awesome numbers Vince! Grats!)

Yikes... I don't know if posting some nice benchmark numbers is worth running VISTA.

What do y'all think? I kinda want to try the GX2 out but somehow it seems like this will only be a good benching setup due to the 512 video ram situation. Any thoughts on this?

Right now I'm running 8800Ultras in SLI on a 30" monitor at 2560x1600. Do you think it'd be worth it running GX2's in SLI for gaming at that resolution?

I'm usually an impulse buyer with this kinda new stuff but this one seems so borderline its making me stop and think...

XP PRO SP2-32 and Vista Ultimate-64 (dual boot), but I do all my testing/benching in XP for now.

Yes, 1 card per my sig.

Your numbers are almost identical to mine, so I'm thinking your PC is only using 1 GPU for some reason.

I ran a couple passes of 06 over lunch, got 19K with stock clocks on GX2, and QX9650 at 3.66. This was on a 780i however. Ran overclocked via Rivatuner 750/1140/1900 and got almost identical score, I obviously have some digging to do to find the catch. Nvidia control panel has no "set SLI" like with older cards, only multi-gpu or multi-monitor.

'fubarswe' reached 500MHz FSB with QX9650 on this board today. As I can remember it is VERY rare to see such high FSB with QX9650.

I get the exact same thing, like the clocks won't stick. Tried all the drivers. Very odd.
