I touch up the rivets after installation. If I can figure out how to get rivets Powdercoated I would try it...but they are getting crushed and that will likely mar the surface.

Thanks...I tried to capture the whole process but the batteries and Memory card kept letting me down ... It's pretty boring to watch I am sure...but I wanted to show the way the case goes together...it's fairly complex looking..but it only goes together one way...

CD, get a sheet of corrugated cardboard then poke your rivets, spray paint em in whatever color you want...

then add some soft padding on your rivet machine...

maybe even think about multi colored rivet on a white case?
    hmm....

A teflon or nylon washer between the rivet gun and the rivet head would help prevent marring the surface of prepainted rivets. Prehaps you might be able to locate some black anodized rivets?

Thanks guys. The shroud is 1/4" acrylic painted to match. It's for a 140mm YL.

Got the acrylic tube for the reservoirs...that will be interesting. Might be able to get out to the shop for a few hours and do some more.

    Likewise.

For a completely seamless look you could fill and smooth the visible rivets and seams with car body filler and repeat the powder coat.

You can only powdercoat bare metal. Nothing plastic or non conductive will work. PLus it all goes in an oven afterward.

And I know all you OCDers are hung up opn the rivets but guess what...they don't show...you won't see them once the case is assembled...

But point taken on the rivets...I got it: paint rivets..

I guess the Sharpie just didn't cut it

Hey Cyber they do make a black hard anodized rivet, just use a teflon or nylon washer between your rivit and the rvit gun. could save you some time and grief.

I'll see if I can locate some that are countersunk (flat head). This case uses both the typical "pop" rivet with the crowned head and a tapered one with a "flat" head.

The other issue is regardless of what the rivets look like on the outside after you "pop" them there is a shiney piece of the stem in the center. So even if you were to PC or anodize of paint them you still cannot get away from the shiney shine Muhahahahahahahaha cough

You mean you don't drill out what's left of the rivet nail? Think of all that added weight!

On a serious note (relatively speaking) those pesky nails are sometimes the things that can make annoying noise from vibration. Most of the time they're wedged in real good but on occasion, they're loose and can sometimes drive you crazy(er).

I agree. The trapped stem actually is what helps "wedge" them..so drilling is a no no.

I like the Temjin TJ09 because it does not use any rivets and you can take it down to the extruded shell in short order. Even nice cases like this are pretty much antiquated in their construction...Tab A Slot B, Rivet, Detent...nicely done to be sure...it's not a Rosewill...but I like captive nuts in heavy gauge metal and machine screws if you are going to get all anal about it

Every case has it's strong points and for the Cosmos I think it's the bottom to top airflow on the technical side and aesthetically it's the heavy, sound-dampened side panels on gaskets in sculptured curvaceous trims that hide a very rectilinear and standard chassis. I mean the chassis is fairly heavy where it needs to be and there is a lot of thought about making it rigid and vibration free....

Tomorrow I will be left to me own most of the day so I should have no excuses and expect to get enough of the case together to see what some custom cylinder reservoirs up top would look like. I am thinking "Missile Launcher"

True but you can use black rtv to fill that center hole and stop the core from vibrating in the process!

But Sharpie can cut it, as long as you buy the right sharpie, that is.

Go to a craft store, of all places, and look at their paint section. (Like JoAnn's or the like...or online, like linked below.) They'll probably have a fair selection of Sharpie paint pens.....different colors and tip widths, like ultra fine point, fine point, medium, wide (chisel) tip.....colors are like gloss black, silver, gold, copper, to name a few.

I've tried all sorts of touch-up painting options, like car touch-up paint w/the little brushes in the cap, but no other option has the control of the Sharpie paint pen/sticks.

They come in water and oil based paint......couple of links:

    Link to Sharpie's website

Link to online store with probably better pics
