SSD finally starting to become affordable @ $17 a gig

    OCZ 32gig @ $500 and 64gig @ $1100

And this is their "ultra-fast series" too running at 120MB/s read and 100MB/s write. As soon as these babies hit $10 a gig I am going to start my next computer build.

    So sexy!!!!

What concerns me that with a large investment in these is that they come with only a one year(8760 hours) warranty but MTBF is supposed to be 2,000,000 hours or 228 years???
    Something is wrong there..
My suggestion to OCZ and anyone selling these is if they are that confident in the life of this product toss at minimum a 5 year warranty on it and if you really want to sell them, make it 10 years.
It's a lot of money. You want to know that if it dies in 14 months your not left standing around looking stupid.

Yeah true guess that's why it's cheaper than say Mtron's 3-5yr warranty 32GB SSD versions as well ?

for 500 that is a start even with the gurantee 1 year.
at the rate the disks are made cheaper in a year, I buy a new one twice or tripple the size for half the price.

finnaly affordable, now, get them out

I hope that they make a 16GB version so you can get a bunch of them and put them in raid 0

    To be a professional noob/idiot
    * Default factory speed is for noobs.
    * Everything must go above the speed that the factory consider safe.
    * Everything for more performance
    * Everything fits, and everything can be broken.
    * Most problems can be fixed by adding a volt or two.
    * Post things in your signature that makes no sense at all.

    But only the slowly MLCs
The SLCs (MTRON) hold steady for a long time.

The OCZ have nice Case, but i prefer MTRON-SSDs. In april (i hope) we get in germany the new S-ATA II MTRONs with 240/180MB/s.

new mtron disks 1000 series use mlc chips, prise will drop 40-50% due to those.
100mb read and 40mb write is the data.

I also guess they get a new high end out the same time.

"Nippy" means fast AND agile, usually describing something small - a small car might be said to be "nippy" where a larger one would just be fast. So this is a good parallel for these relatively small SSDs.

It will be interesting to see Intel's SSD offerings later this year based on their recent "shock and awe" claims. If nothing else, prices will fall.
