Already ordered teh 1100mhz ram (no responses after a week of waiting) Figure wince I'm using 8GB it might be easier on the Ram to buy over the top (but was not sure).

is 1.6v on the MB ok for 24/7 usage? it will be water cooled but I want to make sure its ok. I already have the Q9450.

What is Pl9=? What is D9? Is that the kind of chips in the memory? Why would power chips rated for 550 mhz not be able to make it to 550? Seems it would be more of a Motherboard or CPU limitation?

zfactor i would disable the j micron and just use the intel raid drivers as i use that to run all my hdd`s and dvd/cd drive. I dont see any reason to use both controller`s if your using sata connections for your dvd drive.

Just got one myself and CPU temp is sky high compared to what i used to get with my P35-T2R, 20-23C idle, 44C load at 4000Mhz vs 38C idle / 55C load at stock freq

Could it be because i can't mount the damn TRU properly because of that lame NB heatsink? I have no where to put the fan other then at the top of the case, which of course sucks no air as there are no options up there. Anyone modded their NB heatsink yet to get rid of the thermalright stuff ?

I didn't even start to OC yet but i don't think i'd get anywhere IMO with such high temps @ default frequency.

Another weird problem. When i turn the PC off the motherboard makes a discreet "whine" sound which goes on forever. I have to either turn off the PSU or start the PC to get rid of it. It's really making me drive up the walls here Used stock bios which came with mobo and latest beta from DFI.

Another thing. Any idea why my PC reboots instantly the moment i try to start Everest? I don't know if it's because of the 4870's or the mobo

Edit: as i think about it more it could be my new Corsair 1000W doing the whining. I can't really pinpoint where the sound is coming from.

u cant use raid and boot a non raid device from the intel controller (so no sata dvd booting) and u cant use the pata without the jmicron enabled

AriciU, did you install the FDD power near the x16 PCI-e slots?

If you grind 1/2in off the rear of the top shelf of the NB HS, you can mount the TRUE horizontally. Only takes a couple minutes if you have a bench grinder or a dremel will do it at tad slower.

You have to have Everest 4.20 or newer or it will reboot.

i need the jmicron because i have to many devices for the intel one by itself. i have 4 dvd drives and 4 hdd's.. so in the bios what should i set the type to for the jmicron??

and why can i not see the dfi splash screen no matter what i set it to enabled or disabled?? just curious... so far its running stable as a rock as stock speeds i have not done an oc'ing yet as i was to make sure its running good first..

Thanks for the Everest tip I managed to get it stable at 4000, 8.5 x 471, so i'm glad i can use my daily P35-T2R settings on it. I think they implemented a new temperature monitoring soft on this board. 32-42C idle seems ok when there are 27-30deg in the room... P35 always showed like 18-22C for idling.

Not gonna dremel into it anytime soon though, need my warranty

AriciU, did you install the FDD power near the x16 PCI-e slots?
You mean that might be causing the whine? Only fdd power connecter i've used is the one that my Asus Xonar DX requires. Didn't know you need anything else sucking power from a FDD conn. I'll check out the manual

EDIT: i just noticed them now. Are they really needed? I don't have two of them to test if the whine is gone when they're plugged in. Other then that i have to problems in games / benches with Crossfire without them plugged.

yep when you use dual graphics cards its recc to give the 2 fdd connectors right above the cards 12v from the psu.. im not sure if it could cause any whine or not, i doubt that it would but not sure there

Does anyone know where I might find a listing of what all the error codes on the LED display mean? It would help me a lot with overclocking if I knew exactly which messages meant what.

They can be found here: http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/hardw...herboards.html

This site explains everything regarding the x48 board. I highly recommend you check the rest out.

okay tried these settings and again c1 error.. no go. reset and now is fine at all auto but i cant seem to set them manually??

for the cpu jumpers on the mobo do you normally set them for auto or set them for what the fsb is of the cpu i am being told mixed on that from different people, some are telling me to leave it on auto and some say i need to set it for the actual fsb of the e8500.. which is better

also i ran orthos and i get a fail test on number 5... i have not run memtest yet.. anything else to try??

very new to dfi and the bios is def a bit overwhelming right now.. thanks for any help..

There would be no benefit of setting the BSEL manually with the jumpers vs letting the board do it.

okay for some reason i left this morning turned the system off and unplugged it from the wall.. just got home tried the 5-5-5-15-52 @ 2.1v and pl set to 8 and it boots right up with no c1 error?? what could have been causing the issue all day yesterday and this morning but not now?? doesnt make sense anyway ive ran orthos at stock speeds with above settings and now i do not see any error so far and i can get past stage 5 fine.. so hopefully whatever it was it working now.. ???????????

checked with memset just to make sure my settings stucks and they sure did... so now im back to hopefully being a happy camper lol.. this board was frustrating the crap out of me all day yesterday for some reason.. but then im new to dfi bios' on these newer boards, last ones i had were older 478 mobo's

Nice one. I just saw these and noticed that i installed the damn HB sink the wrong way. I can't fit a fan between it and the TRU so my temps are really suffering with the fan mounted up top.

Any idea how i would remove those damn pushpins they use for the NB sink? Without taking the whole mobo out preferably...

Not safely. They spread out once pushed through the board to keep the tension tight. If you were to get them to come out without removing the board, you run the risk of tearing up the board and almost certainly destroying the pushpin. Might be a good time to replace the TIM on the PWM and SB block while you have it out.

Yeah, i guess i'll have to do those as well. Temps are way higher then what i'm used to with P35
