No. The 4 pin PWM fans aren't the same as normal Molex 4 pin fans. The signals are 12V, GND, Speed sensor and PWM pulse. The latter two signals make them effective at speed regulation based on temperature.

Can you confirm that the Thermalright bracket in this slightly different kit is NOT useful with the Xigmatek heatsink.

    Thanks.

Not a must, but it's better to mount the HS with the bolt thru kit.

This installation animation from Xigmatek also answers my question.

    http://www.xigmatek.com/product/air-...3_install.html

The Thermalright top bracket is not needed; just the back bracket and spring loaded screws.

So instead of the scissor like contraption you get when buying the TRUE this one is better ?

I ordered it and hope it will arrive, i live in the Netherlands.

The clip i just ordered, is it compatible with the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120?

Yes, Just get this bolt-thru kit. You don't need the one with the top bracket.

Reuse the 775 bracket from the Xigmatek package. Just peel off the push pin.

The addition of two extra heatpipes is pretty straightforward. However, the location of the added pipes does create some issues with the Intel socket 775 adapter carried over from the current Ultra 120 kit. The adapter frankly won't fit through the heatpipes in the new design. We actually had to bend the Socket 775 adapter to mount the Ultra 120 Extreme on a Core 2 Duo.

buy the kit, think of it as a insurance policy that your cooler wont unclip itself.

I am surprised that no one mentioned the Tuniq Tower 120. It was a great cooler for me before the switch to H20 and is still running strong on my wifes Q6600 (B3) @3Ghz. Load temps are in the 50s.

Because Xigmatek S1283 is cheaper and light than Tuniq Tower 120. Also the performance of S1283 is slightly better than Tower 120.
