I set it to small ffs. Ill try lowering nb voltage a bit. What would you recomend? Anyway I got the CPU stable @ 3.3ghz. anything higher and it fails Prime95 on core 3.

yeah but you'll need to run thoes G-Skills at 1081MHz they will never do 1200MHz other than that it should work just fine

Thank you. I have been using the rampage bios since I got the motherboard. Rampage bios 0802 , 0803 and 0902 seem to be making my CPU run hotter than normal. So I will try 308.

I call hot 40 celcius idle and 71 celcius 100% load hot. Also my bios settings are @ http://www.xtremesystems.org/FORUMS/...postcount=8348 I lowered the NB voltage to 1.61 (Dont realy know what the correct NB voltage is). Ive installed Rampage bios 308 and my temps in idle went down to 34 idle and 67 100% load at 3.4ghz.

yeah that seem high. I would try lowering you CPU, and CPU PLL Voltages until unstable. Whats your water temp running at? What are you using to read your Temps? Try Everest http://www.lavalys.com/products.php?...ang=en&page=48

I dont have any way of reading the water temperatures but the rad does get very warm (More than usual) and I am using Real Temp for reading temperatures of the CPU. I might be going back to my Asus Crosshair motherboard soon though.

Also the motherboard has some bad droop. I have the CPU set to 1.425v and in CPUZ its showing 1.408 but when I run Dual prime95 the Voltage drops to 1.385v. Bu when I enable Load Line Calibration the voltage seems to stay the same. With Load Line Calibration turned on the temperatures are hih but with it disabled the temperatures are 4 - 6 degrees celcius lower.

I have been trying to get the CPU stable at 3.5ghz again where it was good with 1.45v and a max temperature of 65 celcius but now the CPU is'nt stable with the same settings.

Real Temp does read my CPU 10C hotter then Everest. Others on here told me that Everest is better for 65nm CPU's

It just uses a different TJmax.

Looks like Everest is using a 10C lower TJmax than realtemp.

Are you sure you calibrated real temp properly? Also if its the TJmax is wrong you can change that in Real temp also.

When you dont bother to update your sig how is this my fault??
I read alot of posts in a day its hard to remember everything a simple im running w/e bios and update your sig would be all thats required, regardless of what bios your running the chip is still the same temp so if false numbers are what your after just off set the tjmax to what ever value you wish your chip to run at...
Realtemp and everest will show the same temps when the tjmax is set properly, if you still have a 120 rad on your quad and your still pumping 1.45vcore you might want to grab a 220 as the 120 rad might be a tad weak for teh job, load line calibration is best to leave enabled it is very hard to get cpu stable without it.

This was done on bios 308 with a Q6700 so you should be able to adapt the settings easy

Ok sorry about that. Anyway I have TJ max set to 90 in real temp and its showing 1 degree celcius lower than Everest. I have lowered all the voltages and set load line calibration to enabled. Currently I have the CPU set to 1.4125 in the bios when CPUZ and Everest are showing the CPU voltage to be 1.40v. also the temperatures are about 10 celcius lower. Im not sure if its stable yet because I have the computer running Prime95 small FFS now for about 10 minutes now. Its still running as of now.

Also I have never touched the most of the ram timings except the timings that set it to 5-5-5-15. I am unsure what all those other ram settings do.

Ram timing can be a real pain get your cpu stable first then worry about ram sub timing...keep us posetd on your results

Its still failing @ 3.5ghz even when I have the voltage at 1.45 in the bios (but CPUZ and Everest reports 1.42v) Also the temps are staying below 60 celcius now. Im at 3.4ghz stable now with your voltage settings and 58 celcius with 100% load.

very good, depending on how your chip scales you might need alot of volts take the vCore to 1.50 in the bios ( 1.50volts for 65nm cpu is ok) and up the FSB to 438 if it goes try 450...try to keep the cpu under 65c

Cant do that tonight. I installed windows 7 Build 7264 and its too late in the night to reinstall everything so Ill continue later tomorrow. BTW I used your ram timings and it seems to make things run a lot faster.

the ram timings will help a lot....

Windows 7 will make your rig fly I like it and have been using it 24/7 since the RC was launched..dont be too concerned with running 1.50vcore on that chip as long as your temps stay in check the cpu will be fine, depending on what IC's you have on your cell shock that ram will do amazing things and will be alot of fun tweaking it to the maximum.
keep us posted on your results

I dont have anything installed in windows 7 but I am pretty sure I have the CPU on its limit until I change my watercooling kir. I can get it to post with 438 x 9 1.5v bios but it wont boot into windows. 420x9 wont boot into. I now have it @ 3.6ghz with 1.4875v in bios showing 1.47v with everest and CPUz running 100% @ 64 celcius.

I dare not push the CPU any further because my watercooling kit isnt up to it. Im planning on having a watercooling kit built into a case for me ASAP with a 240rad for the CPU. Even at that I think I have hit the limit of the CPU. My Q6600 G0 has always needed a lot of juice to OC.

Going to leave Prime95 run overnight and see if its stable @ 3.6ghz. Its 1am here so im off to bed. Will report back tomorrow.

BTW Would it be a good idea to buy a Q9650?

PS. I have been using indows 7 since 6801. Have installed many leaked builds since. 7264 no longer accepts RC keys. Windows 7 is fantastic.
