*bashes head repeatedly* I HATE THIS BIOS!!!! It's so frickin crap! Tried ll sorts of straps and voltages and it just goes "DET RAM" - the only 1 I can get to work and it's also 100% stress stable is this

    Ai Overclock Tuner : Manual
OC From CPU Level Up : AUTO
    CPU Ratio Control : Manual
    - Ratio CMOS Setting : 10.0
    FSB Frequency : 400
FSB Strap to North Bridge : 266
    PCI-E Frequency: 100

    DRAM Frequency: 1203
    Everything else : Auto

    CPU Voltage : 1.2365 (I think that's right)
    CPU PLL Voltage : Auto
    North Bridge Voltage : Auto
    DRAM Voltage : Auto
    FSB Termination Voltage : Auto
    South Bridge Voltage : Auto
    South Bridge 1.5v Voltage: Auto
    Loadline Calibration : Enable
    CPU GTL Reference : Auto
North Bridge GTL Reference : Auto
    DDR2 Channel A REF Voltage : Auto
    DDR2 Channel B REF Voltage : Auto
DDR2 Controller REF Voltage : Auto
    SB 1.5V Voltage : Auto

As soon as I touch anything else it hates me. I did at 1 point get the 1st memory option running (I'm using the 2nd option) but I needed to set the ram manually (even though it's the exact same settings as they are automaticaly) and set the ram voltages to something like 2.2v and even then although it got past without DET RAM error, it wouldn't boot, just blue screened. Went backa nd tweaked the rest againa nd again and again but nope, not a single boot out of any of it. :'(

This other thing that concerns me is that I've suddenly got an even bigger v-droop. I put 1.23... v for CPU and it's running 1.92v - it was the 1 below that I'm sure but if I use that it now says 1.16v

    Any ideas?

If you had read even a few posts here you'd know the answer...

Generally it's lower volts for the same or better clocks, better ram compatibility and better overclocking...

Please people, read the ing thread!

What brand of RAM do you have? I had the same issue until I RMAd my Corsair Quads for a newer revision and they have been working beautifully.

To much auto settings there, post your complete bios setup and we can tweak it.

ALL straps work on this board, any det dram hangs are incorrect ram setting usually a wrong PL setting, this is why auto is a bad idea, for you have no control on what the bios sets for a value.

Right well after some tests running on auto (because it worked) I managed to tweak to the following settings to run 4500
    Ai Overclock Tuner : Manual
OC From CPU Level Up : AUTO
    CPU Ratio Control : Manual
    - Ratio CMOS Setting : 10.0
    FSB Frequency : 450
    FSB Strap to North Bridge : 266 / 333
    PCI-E Frequency: 100

    DRAM Frequency: 1258 (I think I'm wrong there) 1180 on 333 strap
    Everything else : Auto

    CPU Voltage : 1.350 (I think that's right)
CPU PLL Voltage : 1.64v real
North Bridge Voltage : 1.54 (again, I think I'm wrong here)
    DRAM Voltage : 2.30v
FSB Termination Voltage : 1.32 real
    South Bridge Voltage : 1.05
    South Bridge 1.5v Voltage: 1.5
    Loadline Calibration : Enable
    CPU GTL Reference : Auto
North Bridge GTL Reference : Auto
    DDR2 Channel A REF Voltage : DDR2_Ref
    DDR2 Channel B REF Voltage : DDR2_Ref
    DDR2 Controller REF Voltage : DDR2_Ref
    SB 1.5V Voltage : 1.5

Anyways, it now at least boots at 4.5GHz but - during stress testing 1 core always cuts out

So..... anyone got any ideas or anything I could try?

    Set CPU GTL REF 0.63X
    NB GTL REF 0.67X
    FSBT 1.40
you might need a drop more vcore as well. but try the 3 settings b4 you add vcore.

Haha... swapped my E8400 at 3.91 and running a Q6600 at 3.70Ghz stable.

Quadcore FTW. loving it right now, i was pissed if i was stuck at 3.6 but the chip is doing very well with 1.4875 in the bios with LLC on stable intelburn test 10 runs.

Raise CPU PLL maybe to 1.55 and see if it takes longer for teh core to fail.
If it does leave PLL at 1.55 and raise vcore a notch or two, it should get the chip stable.

Impressive, +.5 multi makes a lot of difference. Not too impressive on the fsb side, but who cares is you can get it stable?

    Just ordered another rampage today.

Im using 410x9 with 266 strap ram is at 1028 5-5-5-15. AI Clock Twister is Moderate. common performance level is at 10.

If i touch anything on the memory such as timings / clock twister / PFL i'll get BSOD loading windows or during stress testing.

With 410 FSB on that strap you should be able to get PL down lower than 10

You can load updated iastor drivers during the initial install stage. Also, could be a bad oc.

Generally it's lower volts for the same or better clocks, better ram compatibility and better overclocking...

Please people, read the ing thread!
I dont mind reading through a thread 99% of the time but this thread is 266 pages long. There was no need in being such a smart a*s about it. I just asked 1 simple question.

Grnfinger you're a star. I was obviously using too little or too much PLL when I tried that before - came home after work today and it was still going strong.

I had some lol's with it earlier before that advice trying for 5Ghz - well - that didn't go well - told me BOOTMGR was corrupt, then on reboot, xx.DLL was missing, then "Windows has failed blah blah blah - please re-sinsert disk blah blah blah" and then somethign different again on another reboot. I was like, WTF? Rebooted on 4.5ghz and all of a sudden Windows booted magically :P

Anyways, played around with my V-core again and it's running stable at lower voltages which makes me happy Next goal, 5Ghz .....ok maybe 4.8Ghz bit easier)
