Intel Diamondville Specs - Little Falls and Flying Creek

VR-Zone has posted specifications of the Diamondville platform with a speculated release date of Q2 08, courtesy of HKEPC.

Little Falls will be the internal name for computers based on Atom processors which will be available in single and dual core flavors.

Flying Creek will be the internal name for G45 based mini-ITX platforms with support for dual and quad core chips with the HTPC market in focus.

If they were to make one version with 2 GB ports that would make a nice SmoothWall. And if it had 4-SATA i would buy one for a small quite headless server.

I was thinking the same thing. It does have a PCI slot, so theoretically you could have 100Mb in from your modem and 1Gb out to your LAN. Who knows, maybe some OEM will get crazy and include PCIe slots for a nice Intel GbE card...from the looks of Intel's site the 945GC supports PCI Express X16 and X1.

The backplane does not impress me in terms of HTPC ammenities. Parallel port, COM port, and OS/2 ports? What the hell are they thinking? Add HDMI, optical out, and a DVI connection and you'll have my attention.

Otherwise, the TDPs look great. 12W for a dual core, good performance considering.

This was already around with a slower Celeron processor but otherwise identical specs. It recently disappeared from the market though which makes sense as Intel is launching this product. I forget what the name of the product was, some crunchers discussed it a few months back.

Don't want to burst your bubble, but that is unlikely.
It would be cool if this was DTX form factor with PCIe x16 and PCI, but it
wont be happening unfortunately..
Of course it supports that, there are even full ATX boards based on this
chipset; I have a mATX one myself.

Exactly, D201GLY and -2 had Cel 215 and 220 processors and much the
same layout. (Cel220 was an ULV Conroe-L @ 1.2GHz in fact). At least
they gave it a bit more powerful igp: the original was a SiS Mirage 1...

8-12W doesn't require any fan at all and will still stay sub-50C full load so not sure how true that is or why that GBT pic has one. Those tiny fans are usually screamers. Still sounds impressive and I'd love to check one out. Probably a late Q2 thing though it seems.

Intel will be releasing a G45 based mini-ITX motherboard code named "Flying Creek" that supports 45nm Dual and Quad core chips, HD graphics with HDMI, Dolby Digital Audio and ICH10R. The motherboard model is DG45FC and will supposedly hit the market before June.

That really doesnt need a CPU power plug- it uses 12W- it can take it from the ATX plug, the PSU wont notice!

That would make for a really nice HTPC setup. If you're using it as a front end...I can't see enthusiasts who are used to having multiple tuners in there machines getting excited over this.

No but I believe we could expect similar price than D201GLY2A as this is the same kind of product and as silverstone is supposed to be very cheap.

Diamondwille looks cute, but i would make :
Mini ITX 780G board with one PS2, no serials, no parralels, DVI, eSATA, HDMI, six USB, one ethernet and 5.1 onboard sound with optical.
Get a downclocked, naked Brisbane to 1.6GHz and like 1.1Vcore, solder this on board and use large, but low profile heatpipe heatsink.
Use two DIMM configuration.
Remove IDE/FDD, and use four SATA ports.
Put one PCI-E 16x slot.
Now that would be more interesting.
