    thanks charles
you really got me excited when i say your high FSB affair
would be nice to have E8600 chips to attempt 6Ghz benches without needing to mod the mobo heh but that's still a few months away
next bench will be dual cards so if i get a go ahead i'll show ya some full runs >> '01 is awesome heh

aah nice.. Hope to see some high fsb from Yorks on 790i. It would be nice in order to get some decent ddr3 clocks.. Good luck with the never ending quest for the "golden one"

You don't need high FSB necessarily...you have async mode as well

Yup they appear very nice on the surface, cant wait for one myself.

@ Railmeat, whether you adjust FSB in BIOS or Windows, it is exactly the same effect hence both are real overclocking.

heheh i know where you're coming from Tim with that "on the surface" comment. I don't know what the new Strikers will be like but if the improvement is anything like it is from reference 680i > 790i you will become a believer again matey

    hahah

    jesus.

just knowing this potential is there, assures me of one thing.
I know what my next board is gonna be.

    loved my 680i.
definatly looking forward to a 790i.

    incredible results.

    haha Eric

that statement of yours still rings in my ears from beginning of conroe times pretty much >>> FSB is not a CPU but motherboard limit. I am starting to see it that way a little now heh >> i mean there are now at least two different chipsets that can do some amazing stuff with FSB.......tells you how much untapped potential there still is and how hard engineers have to work to get there.

yeah man i just leave it at speed i know won't cause issues and concentrate on CPU.... no need to calculate anything or worry of this will work with that etc hehehe

while the pot was warming up i tried 8xmulti and saw no improvement

but there are definitely a few things i still have to try...i know there is more in it
