I got that board and the q6600. Overclocked to 3.6GHZ stable with dual 8800GTS 512 OC cards. Got over 18,500 points using 3dmark06. Let me know if you have any questions.

Nice ifantig do you know if the 8x8 pci lanes impair performance in sli?

I'd get this board over a 780i in a heartbeat.

Not at all. In fact I had originally RMA'd this board and ordered the Diamond which has x16 SLI because I thought that the x8 was going to be a bottleneck. I had nothing but problems with the 780i board. It would blue-screen all the time on me. When I was finally able to run benchmarks on the Diamond board, I was shocked because the Platinum board actually scored higher than the Diamond.

Here is a link with my results: http://forums.slizone.com/index.php?showtopic=18607

Keep in mind that while it is x8 SLI, it is also operating at PCI-E 2.0 speeds which are double the speeds of PCI-E 1.1. In other words, x8 SLI in 2.0 is essentially the same as x16 SLI in 1.1 (such as the 680i chipset). In any event, NONE of the cards out today can saturate an x8 or x16 PCI-E 2.0 bus. I did a lot of reading on this. I'm no expert but it seems that everyone agrees on that. I will post my BIOS settings tomorrow or Saturday. The case is apart right now as I'm going to install some new fans tomorrow.

ifantig how is this board going for you?

This seems to be the best value SLI motherboard around at the minute and it seems to have no problems overclocking a Q6600

I really would recommend it to anyone. It's solidly built, very stable, and has loads of potential for overclocking. I have my q6600 @ 3.6GHz but I am not happy with my temps so I'm currently testing it at 3.4GHz. I have the Zalman 9700 and it reaches easily into the mid 70's Celcius during p95 torture test. I am now experimenting with a lower core voltage (1.37) at 3.4GHz and it has peaked at 67C which is acceptable, however after about 6 hours of testing, I got an error on one of the cores so I probably need to up the core voltage a bit more. I also lapped the CPU which hasn't really produced the results I was hoping for but I will tell you that the heatspreader on mine was extremely uneven.

One thing I will tell you is to look at the Evga 750i board. It costs a bit more but from what I am reading, it offers x16 SLI as opposed to x8 SLI with the Platinum. Although the difference at this point is negligible, the x16 SLI is definitely a more future-proof setup, and it looks like a really nice, high quality board. If it were around when I was looking for a board I would seriously consider that one over the MSI. Nonetheless, I have no regrets with the MSI board at all.

I just had a first go

    Voltage Settings:

    --------- BIOS ----------------- Windows -----------
    • CPU: 0.0250__________CPU-Z: 1.328 - 1.336
    • VTT: 1.375
    • NB: 1.36_____________MSI utility: 1.46
    • SB: 1.53

Very stable. I haven't tried gaming yet. I'm still looking for lower voltage settings at this speed.

Can someone remind me what VTT is?
Does anyone know of a utility that can report VTT and SB voltages in windows?

    E6750 Update 1:

    Testing:
    • 30 mins Orthos
    • 32M SuperPI mod

I think one can regard this as stable.
Note: Both the MSI utility and CPU-Z give initial higher values for voltage. Once you start testing, however, those values drop slightly.

    Voltage Settings:

    --------------- BIOS -------------------- Windows -----------

    • CPU: 0.000 (default) ___________ CPU-Z: 1.304 - 1.312, MSI utility: 1.30 -1.31
    • VTT: 1.20 (default)
    • NB: 1.32 _____________________ MSI utility: 1.32
    • SB: 1.50 (default)

I will attempt a final test, at this speed, with the NB voltage set to default.

    E6750 Update 2:

Tried with NB set to 1.28. Passed SuperPI 32M but the PC freezes after running Orthos for 9 minutes.
So the above settings are the minimun required to run an E6750 at 8x400 FSB = 3,2 GHz on the MSI P7 Platinum.
