    Most potent statement!

Were these companies to cut the list price in half, we'd consider raising these scores. Raiding your wallet the way they wish to, they're currently for serious sound freaks and, maybe, the gamer who has everything.
If their comments about games can't be serious with Vista LOL! I got my Prelude for $169 from Newegg. IMHO (just me) it should have sold for $139. I still like my Creative X-Fi for games.

I love my X-fi elite pro and 7.1 Gigaworks speakers.

Cost me £480 just for my sound, but my PC is my cinema / theatre now.

You really need to hear / watch the whole Lord of the Rings trillogy, Saw, Kill Bill, X-men movies on my PC XD.

Oh no wait, the pleasure is all for me, not for you :p

Well personally my Soundblaster relationship has been one of love and hate over the years. Driver updates are slim to none and known problems are ignored by Creative no matter how many people about it. No doubt my X-FI sounds excellent. But in my favorite game BF2142 it's a nightmare. Blue screens of death, crackling, popping and a barrage of sounds are common. Perhaps some competition will spur Creative into shaping up. If they don't go out of business first.

Actually most THX branded stuff is garbage.

And they slap THX logo on it to sell it.

Any made-for-PC audio speakers are low end.

That's what I thought too. How can some DIY speakers not kick it in the kidneys for the same price? for 480£ you don't even have to settle for mid-range in diy

I have the Creative Gigaworks 7.1 as well and love them. My problem is I have so many problems with crackling issues with my X-Fi if I change any drivers it is a 50/50 chance it will get all screwed up again. I'm looking for a good sound card that these speakers will work well with if my new cpu/mem/mobo build continues with noice issues I'm dumping creative. I like Asus products, I'm wondering is there issues with the size of that card and memory slots moving down further on the boards as a trend? If you are lucky you have a PCIE 1x slot on top of video cards and if there is any other slots they are usually cover by 2nd slot coverage by the video cards.

If your interested in a Xonar grab one. They have great sound quality and stocked with features. I have a few friends that run them and they love them. Sound amazing no matter what you do...according to them. All of the new soundcards are pretty impressive though. If your thinking of buying a new card look at the latest ones out and see which has the best features that fit you and what you do with audio...Recording,music,movies or gaming..etc.

For the record, just because it has a THX label is on there, doesn't mean it automatically sucks.

Just like anything else, all products carrying the label aren't created equal=P First many don't understand even what the Hell THX is. THX is merely a standard Guideline and has little or nothing to do with Quality as it pertains to Music. THX support and certification is for MOVIES. A good side affect of this is 5.1 Computer Games interactive sounds and sound tracks that are similar.
