    Which CPU temperature is correct

I just bought the AsRock Extreme 3 Gen 3 board with the i5 2500k CPU.

when monitoring the system I noticed that CPUID Hardware Monitor and SpeedFan
(I usually use this two together with WebTemp program) do not seem to report the
correct CPU temperature (...also some voltage lines are missing ...maybe because of
    the Nuvatec sensors Ex3G3 uses??)

In AsRock AXTU tool the CPU temperature is displayed quite differently (higher) than in
HWMonitor or SpeedFan ...HWiNFO shows both CPU temps ...it seems HWMonitor and
SpeedFan show HWiNFO's CPU temperature, and the AXTU shows another CPU temp
(forgot what it is actually called in HWiNFO....CPU something).

Which would be the correct temp ...or is one the CPU socket temperature, and the
    other CPU diode temperature

I will post some pictures when I get home later today.

Just use core temp mate this shows each CPU core individually.

    ^--what he said.

on AIDA64 my "HWinfo" temp is always wayyyyy high, i just pay attention to the individual core temp.

Either Core Temp or Real Temp will read straight from the CPU die, giving the most accurate reading.
