    Spray Painting SATA Cables

I need black cables but they are just too expensive and id rather not sleeve them for the flat look.
    quick question for you guys..

-what kind of spray paint is best for this task? in terms of durability, long lasting, best finish etc.

-do I need to run the cables through some sandpaper?

-anybody ever done this? will I destroy the cable even if I mask the actual connectors?

If you are desperate to paint them I would strongly advise using Latex paint is it usually does have a little give and take before cracking. I do mean a LITTLE..........so...........good luck, but you would be better sleeving.

    Krylon Fusion? http://www.krylon.com/main/product_t...t=product_list

That would be my best guess. It's suppose to bond with the plastic on a molecular level.

i've used krylon fusion, it works great for flat surfaces but i doubt it will work on a sata cable.
Would it really hurt the aesthetics that much if they remained (red or orange probaby?
Just route them out of the way, if they are that bad. otherwise i bet your going to be cleaning paint chip particles out of your case.
As Los Alamos director J. Robert Oppenheimer watched the demonstration, he later said that a line from the Hindu scripture the Bhagavad Gita came to mind:
"I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds."
Test director Kenneth Bainbridge in turn said to Oppenheimer, "Now we are all sons of b**ches." wiki

    Best paint is montana cans.
    http://www.bombingscience.com/shop-montana.htm
Id give them a light buff of some super fine grit sand paper

When you paint them hold the can fairly far back and just mist them, this will preven drips and give you an even coating.
