    Hi Mechromancer,
I was looking to change to a Genuine Intel cpu string but wouldn't know what to put in there.
I was wondering if it would be possible for you to type it in a message so i can just copy and paste it into Central Brain Identifier to try.
    Cheers,
    HeamothoraxUK.

im sure you know this doesnt provide you a reliable solution.

You can fool the BIOS/firmware by using a wrong CPUID, but unless you reproduce every feature described in the errata I don't see how you can guarantee the system to work reliably. Strange things will occur when the OS or BIOS apply a workaround that does not apply to the real implementation of your CPU.

use linux and compile under gcc, then you wont get discriminated.
theres a reason why the top-10 supercomputers use one form of (cluster-node)linux or another.
