    Multi Head phase change case

Has anyone read that article on theinquirer.net?

    http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquir...rapture-casing

Check out the claimed temps... I think that is impossible with one compressor unless he has a pentium 3 660 and 2 matrox vgas...

Intresting, can see many many ways to make it much better personly but some of whats been said there is a load of rubish.

However it's going to cost a fair wack for that but it is sweet

lol I wouldnt be suprised if you saw that actually doing those temps. I really wonder who could have built that though.

A very interesting project and very well done.

The numbers they are throwing around on there are ridiculous though I can't see how you will get "5-15%" better cooling than standard phase systems with a 4 head cooler that is capable of 550w; 550 divided by 4 equals app. 137w per head, thats not going to handle much of a cpu or even gpu.

IMO, a dual head system would have been much more practical, and actually useful to an average oc'er, that would have given around 225w per head, although oc would still be limited by the temps. -20c is the temp to start the pc, if I'm benching and the evap rises to -20c it's time to shut down. It seems there have been a couple of these type systems come out lately, and I just can't figure out what market segment would be interested in one. I think people who get something like this will be expecting much more than they end up with, they will have to be fairly inexperienced oc'ers and when there new unit won't run the same numbers everyone else is getting with there Vapo's or customs, they are going to be asking "why"?

All that said... it's an amazing engineering accomplishment, and very well done.

I think you are mis- reading the example they are giving. Those temperatures are for the cooler that is shown. Not a four headed cooler.

"BioHazard claims the rig operates the CPU at -20degC with each GPU operating at -25degC. At these temps the system is able to
    handle 550 Watts,"

    Am I wrong??

    Thanks for nice comments guys
550 watt is correct (of course not fully loaded at that temp... I can't defy physics :P)
I didn't quite get to finish fine tuning unit for much better temperature (450w combined for tuning would have been much better for temperature tbh on this type of system while gaining decent amount of temperature advantage)
I never consider benching to be SS game anyways, this would be more toward 24x7 usage. Who are we kidding on benching anyways... either you are the top dog or you are not on benching world :P
4 head I would probably tune it for 180/180/100/100. Right now it is 250/150/150. Not going to really use it properly for system built for 24x7 type of setting. I mean, you can only safely do so much voltage for pre-built systems. Might as well go for lower temp.
5-15% probably came straight from my website... lol I don't think that applies on this unit.

    Refrigerant?

Hope u can improve the performance :P

BioHazard claims the rig operates the CPU at -20degC with each GPU operating at -25degC. At these temps the system is able to
    handle 550 Watts,
So these are idling evap temps or real CPU and GPU working temps?

looks like nf11fx and no idea on gas. I think it actually may be r134a, but most likely r507a. (i thought i heard r134a thrown somewhere...maybe a blend?)

by the shape of it i would have thought it be one from the SL range, but not sure.

btw. the graphicscard (the 8800gtx if i am correct) is missing 3 heatsinks on the RAM, dunno if that is too good for them if this system is meant for 24/7...
