If you were undervolting it i would imagin that it would only show its darkside when the cpu was under load. Do you get BSOD's? can you Prime at all? what are your temps?

See if you can try a different PSU. Unplug what is not needed and it would be best to clear the CMOS. Remove the battery for a while as well. (Motherboard manual should contain the exact how-to)

Try to boot with the video card not hooked up to the motherboard or PSU.

To rule out BSOD make sure:

Control Panel > System > System Properties window > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section > Settings button > System failure section.

    Uncheck "Automatically restart"

I have seen it happen before and it has been a driver problem, nvidia sound in my case.

but could be psu- or something shorting??

try unpluging extras such as fans, mouse, neons etc.

    ^ nm, Scratch that
you dont want to be in the middle of an upgrade and have your system crash, might brick your motherboard. then you'll have a serious problem!

i found its only doing that when its idle for a while, so it might be something that automatically reduces voltages but then it makes it too low so it crashes?

IDK if your board is like mine but could it be something with C1E or SpeedStep in your BIOS config under CPU settings? i think those throttle the CPU's freq. and voltage (but i think it does it in realtime (e.g. no long delay))
