Looking for a simple pencil vmod for 8800gtx!

Hello there fellow overclockers. I have been hunting for a good guide on how to pencil vmod a 8800gtx! The one on vr-zone isn't very clear and I am unsure on exactly were and how to do it. I am no good at soldering and it seem to complicated with cables and stuff so i wont bother with that. Also is it true that u only can pencil mod the mems for higher voltage?

Many thanks and sorry for sucking at finding guides...

The values of the resistors that would need to be penciled are much too low a value for penciling them to give any sort of beneficial voltage increase

    Are you really sure?

In this thread http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=169712, the guy increased Vmem all the way from 1.95v to a whopping 2.45v!!!

I'm about to do it, but I wont have a way of measuring it after putting it back in the case which is already too cluttered with all the fancy stuff. Come on guys, if the pencil mod was not working why would VR-Zone publish that method?

There is a pencil mod for the memory, but there isn't one for the core for the reason mentioned.

You cant decrease the resistance enough to make a actual voltage change for the core.

Ahh i see that you were talking about the core, not the memory!.. alrite!

BUT... the OP was talking about the memory (duh)...
