    Is this fixable?

I'm buying an almost new IC7-G and some ram from a guy, but the board will not run in any other ratio other the 1:1 . Even then it tops out at about 255 3,4,4,8. The ram used to test it was 2x512 twinX4000, and 2x512 ocz 4000 gold. He used a 2.4C for testing which is what I just bought the other day, which should be here on monday because it was shipped today. Would using different ram solve my problem? If so can you please list what kind please?

    Thanks

Well the IC7-G normally tops out at 255 1:1. It seems to be a flaw in the board. The not being able to run any ratio other than 1:1 may be an issue with the ram. My TwinMOS PC3200 with winbond CH-5 chips won't run in 5:4 or 3:2 mode either.

Using different ram will allow you to use different dividers, but the 255fsb 1:1 issue is a BIOS problem that should be fixed in the next bios revision (ya think !)

IMO the options where there he just couldn't get the other dividers to work, especially with the OCZ

    Quote from ocz site:

*HyperSpeed® enabled modules contain firmware and are built on a PCB that is optimized for the highest possible frequency and due to these optimizations the PC4000 Gold modules may not allow latency faster than 2.5-4-4-5, regardless of the module frequency.
That said, I don't think timings are an issue @3-4-4-8.
I don't know about the other sticks though. Have you tried flashing the bios?
