Tried the same today Dinos. Same E8500 and Commando that wil do 600mhz FSB 32M with 6 multi on air. Problems to get over 593 with 9.5 multi though. Chip boots at -100 and runs -140 fine. No tweaks or pmem and cas5:

Great clocks mate, do you think you were fsb limited at 9.5 multi or was it just the cpu speed coming to a grinding halt?

I can imagine 5611MHz is pretty much all it had in it.

Not sure Zeus. Ran it at Extera's, thanks a lot my friend it was good fun Gained a lot goin up from 1.64 to 1.84v but not a mhz from 1.84 to 1.95v. Think/hope it was board but we ran out of time unfortunately.

    i don't think that's the case

    i was 32M stable at 580 on 6 and 9 multi as well 585 8M SuperPi spotty and 1M 590

so i was just maxed out by FSB here donno

davemelb has done dual 32M SuperPi on air cooling at 600MHz (well it stopped 3/4 way which is very close to stable with some other CPUs) >> I have them at home

the chip i benched was happy doing the same tests with 1.67v as 1.8v so my chip certainly had plenty of steam left in it

    nice clock my friend ,congrats

Dino-san, its bad to hear about the FSB limit on P965,with the same chip i was benching at 600+ on X38 and no more than 590 on P35 ,both dice cooled,i think the fsb limit is memory(divider?!?) related or imature bios (Blitz 1402 ),anyway i got a spare E8500 ,630FSB on air and its enough for 6ghz,and how i promisse to u i will send it for you (but you send me back after finishing )

Hmm, maybe I misunderstood you. You have p5b dlx that maxes out @ what fsb (on air) with other chips, 600+? So, you also have 8500 that maxes at 590 1M on the same dlx?

If that's the case then it is cpu wall already on air. Freeze it and wall will rise up to 50-60fsb in the best case

I have tested 4 chips on 965. They all max out 620fsb flat on air. I must be either very luck or many 45nm will do 600+ easily

it must be my explanation hehe

this board used to below to a member called davemelb who tested 3xE8400 CPUs and all of them benchmarked 590MHz FSB with ease on air cooling

i don't know where the wall on this E8500 is as i haven't got the right board yet that can give me the FSB i need but i would not be surprised to take 6GHz screenshots if i found the right board as this CPU is a great overclocker with very low vcore and also it's a very hot CPU as well.....all the makings of a great chip hahahah

dinos22 when we are talking about high fsb CPUs, what did u do with 620mhz air 6850?

As far as I can see, I reckon that about 85% (or even more) of the E8500 cpu's are capable of 6G screenshots with the right motherboard .

The only boards I'd try out for high clocks are the Asus Commando and DFI LP P35, I think. However, you just have to be very lucky (like always LOL) ... once the P35 biosses are tuned well for Wolfdales, we'll see more and more 6G's
