    EK FC GTX480 problem

    Hi guys,
I'm having problem with my Asus GTX480 and EK water block.
Block is mounted properly, all thermal pads are in the rihght place and card memory (these at the fron of the card) has no contact with EK water block.I've tried to loose screwws, tight them also - no results.Card is bend in this area so I recon that EK block is faulty - but maybe some of you had same problem?
    Any ideas?

My worries is that I can fried up my card memory :P

Well you have not turned it on like that right?

If it is bending something is wrong. Back in the 280 days I remember EK having a similar problem and a recall correcting the issue. However currently it is hard to say what is wrong.

Something is installed wrong, or the bloc is bad.

Is PCB perfectly flat when you dismount block? Photos in this case would be great for us to see.

Yes I did and it is running all the time, I even played some games.Everything loooks fine until I 've oced my card, when OCed I can se artirfacts. But all the time I using this card at the stock clocks.

Tackleberry - Yes when not fitted is ok.I think I know what the problem is - it is my PC case - looks like monting on the extension slot is too high - it is strange as I never had similar problem.

That looks to me like a weight problem. The block to heavy for pcb.

If you push up slightly on the card does it straighten out ?

If so put a brace there from the top of your ps.

to fix your card bending you can use the EK back plate and you put a support under the block betwen the blcok and your PSU.

Looked to me like the power cables and water tubing (both going into and out of the block) were all working to pulling and pushing that outside edge of the card down.

Unless the card looked warped on a flat table I doubt it would be the block causing it.

I'm confused - I tooke it off my GTX and put ATI 5850 - in vantage on High settings I'm not getting a clear picture, I can see flashing stars, or sometimes small artirfacts - but other that tha is working fine, and I'm not loosing signal from my card at all.
Is it possible tah my PCIE slot on my Mobo is knackerd?
    Maybe card is fine?
But note - this is only on high settings in vantage, on Performance everything is absolutely fine.

Ok sorted - I swap card to the second PCIE on my Mobo (it is x8 only) and card sis working fine, and it is not bended anymore.
    thanks everyone for help.

Ah too late I guess, I was about to say that if you were. You should not be using that if it is bent. I know that it is not supposed to work correctly if the card is bending and that is what I check for when I first mount blocks. I would never recommend to turn on a card that is bending as a result of the block being installed as it is a clear warning sign.

So what are your plans for a new card, you going to get the same thing or hold out for a new release using a spare?

It's hard to tell, could be the card, could be the motherboard.

Only way to troubleshoot it really is to put another video card in and run it for a while, or put you 480 in another computer and run that for a while. Problem will become clear quickly.

I notice funny thing - I turn off my PC, disconected power cord, conected again and it's fine.
BTW - ATI 5850 was working fine before.

    edit:
880 erros in OCCT GPU test - so it is clear now , that card is broken.

Try running something that burns gpu memory and not the core. I had a similar test result with a bad 280. It would run furmark fine and play games fine but then cause a random crash. Replacing the card fixed the problem but it was strange b/c it was hard to tell if it really was the gpu.
