Anyone ever replace mem on a GPU?

ALT-F13 had a card with re-soldered memory...a 9500 if I remember correctly.

My father is a EE. He build his own accelerometers... out of his basement. He runs his company from the basement of his house (www.cfxtech.com). He has a couple of modded soldering irons that he made for working under a microscrope. He spend most of his life soldering under that damn thing. He's also came up with a process to use a PC printer to print out printed circuit board pattens and then chemically etch the PCB's using the paper copy. Pretty cool. So, he designs, prints and etches his own custom PCBs right out of the basement.

After seeing the of the shyte he can do, I'll believe anything is possible.

You can paint them by hand, or via CAD software, or even via paint if you like that, nothing unusual, many people who are into electronics have done it themselves

I've done it. I once pulled a mem chip off a gfx card removing a heatsink.

All the balls were intact, so you just place it on the right spot on the board, then used a heatgun on low airflow.

Once the solder balls melt, they align themselves properly.
