Got this HS myself to replace my old TRU and was kinda shocked that it performed 2-3C worse then my Ultra120-A. Reapplied MX-2 as my first mount was awfull and now temps were equal to those i got with the TRU.

Decided to add another fan to it to see how push-pull would work and got a 3C drop and almost 9C in maximum temperatures recorded by Real Temp during Prime95 .

Here are some pics. Zipties FTW!

    Only one fan, push:

    Two fans, push/pull:

Hmm. Anyone using the Thermalright bolt-thru kit with this Heatsink might want to check this out.

    Xigmatek bolt thru kit backplate:

Thermalright bolt thru kit backplate. Heatsink is not making proper contact with the CPU because of those damn things protruding thru the motherboard by about 3mm's.

    http://www.clunk.org.uk/forums/user-...pu-cooler.html

By adding the FX-10 Backplate we have removed this protrusion so makeng better contact between the Xigmatek heatsink & CPU. So if you plan on using the thermalright bolt thru I'd advvise filing down the pillars so that they fit flush with the mobo . It's probably 2~3mm that want to come off. Ideally best solution would be to get the Xigmatek Crossbow I7751
    ~10C drop in temps

OK, now that ive read this thread, ive decided to review my decision to get the HR-01 PLUS.
Since I need a good performing heatsink with low noise fans (yate loon D12SL-12 identical to nexus silent case fan) which one is better? Xigmatech Red Scorpian, Achilles, or Vendetta2? Also in a low noise environment, can they best the HR01 PLUS? I cant seem to find low noise tests with these new HDT HSF's.
oc: 3.9!!!!, but back to 2.4 (stock) for longevity
1 gig ocz gold ddr 800.
my rig: p5b deluxe wifi, 600 psu, 7900GT KO, e6600, water cooling, and thermalright nb cooler.

    my css name: theonemuffintorulethemall

    Ariciu...thats amazing oc....very nice!!

and Zhang, RS 1283 is same as S1283 but with nickle plated and comes with a more quiet LED fan. The new Achilles (S1284) is not out yet. and I will vote for S1283.

doesnt compare the red scorpian to the vendetta, but the red scorpian is similar enough to the xig it compared.

edited to make my wording better.
