    Xigmatek Red Scorpion S1283

I was browsing the Xigmatek site this morning when i came across this beast.

    http://www.xigmatek.com/product/air-...rpions1283.php

the color looks down right awesome, i hope to have a review sample soon, it looks to be an improved version of the original 1283.

guys dont confuse the original S1283 with the red scorpion, this one is supposed to be an improved version. It isnt even released yet for reviews.

Also, the heatsink showdown review in the stickys highlights the performance measured by the S1283(original)

    Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme 18.4 11.4 44.5 ? Or are we back in 2004 again ?

    I understand your point now.
So we should ask for a comparision between Ultra X and S1283 with the same fan.

First off i am NOT a TRUE fanboy. But look closely at that review. They have a Ultra 120 performing better then the Ultra 120 Extreme. The review just lost credibility with that alone.

Aside from that look at the cooler. I highly doubt it performs that well. It's only got 3 heatpipes and they are not staggered (note to HSF manufacturers... STAGGER THE HEATPIPES!!). Fin density is weak. It just seems impossible that it actually performs as well as Frostytech reports.

I'll wait until Spawne32 reviews one before i believe it.

this may perform better than what was in the review as this has 3 heatpipes as well but they are 8 diameter. This is what should have been done with the beast ifx-14. heatpipes that touch the ihs don't think thermalright could screw up the mounting on that.

He means the deep scratches in the base. But its all good cause that's what lapping is for (as long as you don't break through the heatpipes )

did you buy it used? because from the pics itself it seems like it is a mark of 4 corner. apparently it sits on something sqare shape before.
If you bought itnew, I will definatly go after the store who sold to you.
sounds like they sold a demo, display, return product to you as new.

update, i should have a sample by friday, if we are lucky, ill have it reviewed this weekend, maybe next weekend. For those of you saying its damaged or the base is messed up, its like that on purpose, frankly id like to see some base improvements but the direct touch heatpipe design does work as advertised.

and these results are consistent with other reputable review sites, refer to the sticky in the forums.
