My idle temp is 47C with Core Temp 0.96.1 on IP35 PRO
Is this right?
Intel Inside
My temps don't seem to fluctuate half as much as my Conroe did, both cores are steady at 37ēC idle, my conroe fluctuated all the time between 34 and 37ēC and always had ~2ēC difference between both cores.
Temps seem right to me, i'm using coretemp 0.96.1

I get that screwed reading as well.
I get 42C Idle temp but it creaps up after I put it under load to what seems to be proper tempature.
I used the 14 Bios temp didn't seem to move at all and Beta 16.04 bios worked but as mentioned stayed at 42C til I moved past that tempature I think.

CoreTemp is the only program guaranteed to be reading the value of the on die digital thermal sensors (DTS) within the Intel core CPUs. Any change in the version of the bios you are using will not change what CoreTemp reports.
You can use CrystalCPUID to read Model Specific Register (MSR) 0x19C directly. The data contained in bits [22..16] of this register is a 7 bit number which shows you how far you are away from TjMax. CrystalCPUID also lets you select which core you are reading the DTS data from. This same data can also be displayed using CoreTemp when you go into the settings and select "Show Delta to Tjunction max temp."
CoreTemp then takes that data and plugs it into this simple formula:
Absolute Temperature = TjMax - DTS
For the E8x00 series it is assuming 105C for TjMax.
Check out post #210 to learn how to test temperature monitoring software.
In previous testing of the dual core Conroe processors I found CoreTemp to report absolute temperatures very accurately from about 45C to their TjMax of 85C. In my opinion the DTS sensors are not accurate at low idle temperatures and will typically report too low. Intel designed and calibrated the DTS sensor to trigger throttling at TjMax=0 and CPU shut down about 20C after that but has never publicly documented its use for reporting idle temperatures.
Another user reported having a cpu where the DTS on one of his cores was stuck at a fixed value. It could go higher under full load but not any lower. It would be highly unlikely that both cores were stuck at the exact same fixed lower value. If anyone sees that then try turning down the core voltage and MHz to default or lower and see if you can force the temps lower. If it still doesn't go lower at idle then you should return it. If it overclocks like a MOFU then I'd keep it!GOESA: I think its buggy reading in the chip, does not bother me.

I have about the same setup.. Asus Max, 8500 crucial, with only a cpu WC custom system D-tek fuzion.
Running 9x475 with 1.33 Vcore. I am getting 53 with 54/59 on cores using everest on Load with Orthos!
What are your other voltage settings and what are your load temps?
As long as you're confident that temperatures are in check, out of the way readings are probably just that. A lot of these chips are reporting erroneous values for temperatures.
Anyone wanting to return their CPU because of temperature readings need to do it through the place of purchase. Intel does not recognize 3rd party software as a valid temperature reporting method for RMA.

Exact same stepping but even booting @ 1.28v @ 4.0ghz welcomes me with a BSOD... could it be the mainboard? (P5K)

Me: No why?
Friend: My PSU just blew up, I think the second 8800GTX might have been too much for it to handle
