I didn't think so. It sounds like your on chip sensors might be a little screwed up. Your processor won't start throttling until DTS=0 and you are still a long ways from there.

Set up CoreTemp like this and it will report readings from the DTS directly and show you how far you are away from throttling.

Intel hasn't changed the location or format of this data so CoreTemp does not need to be updated to read it. CoreTemp's interpretation of this data may have changed but all versions of CoreTemp that have this option should have no trouble reading the DTS sensors and should report the same thing.

I can't seem to get Coretemp working on Vista x64. It errors out, and I tried running with administrator.

    Any thoughts?

Disable Signature by pressing F8 before the OS loading. Make sure you are not installed all the window updates. Otherwise, it doesnt matter if you disable the signature it weren't work.

If CPU-Z works with Vista x64 then use it to read the DTS data directly as explained in post #647.

It's a little more complex than CoreTemp but will return the exact same info.

So the read out of CPU temp by a program like Abits uGuru, should be what I look at and be concerned over, not each individual core, via core temp software? At least that is the opinion as far as Intel are concerned?
Intel has said that E8400 users should ignore their core temp readings and instead concentrate on the cpu temps, which they recommend as 61.4C (or perhaps 72.4C as was noted in another post) being the maximum. I would check your bios cpu reading and compare it to any Windows software program you are using. My bios temp reads about 4C higher than most software readings.

My CPU temp (Tc) seem to be in-line with what I expect. Could you link us to where Intel has made this announcement? I'd love to read the details.

I had a e8400 had the same results.. Had great temps! But past 4.2...I would immediately get those errors on core2. I had tried many different voltage combinations but no luck.. Sent it back..

I agree, I know my cpu does not have luck with my mobo past 510-515 fsb! I too have a maximus! Is there anyway to help this board!

My BIOS CPU temp seems to be spot on with uGuru

Idle 33c load 49c, cooler by 5-9c ish over core temp readings. My CPU gives out weird temps via core temp, one core is 5-8c hotter than the other, as I mention in a previous post.

uGuru temps seem more in line with what I would expect from my WC rig.......

    Thumbs up

It's still quirky but it's not crashing. Will update soon with final settings choice.

Try running MemTest86+ at default CPU MHz and adjust the divider to bring your ram up close to the normal speed you run it at. I've seen more ram go south than cpus but anything is possible. If you have some spare ram available swap it in and see what happens or try using one stick at a time to isolate your problem.
