visual aid for spotting a system lockup?

    Hey all,

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any sort of simple program that continuously runs some kind of moving graphic on the screen.

The idea is that I need a simple way of spotting when my system hard-freezes while priming to find stable values, and it can take a lot of time to see that a system has frozen up unless you continuously sit by the controls and wiggle the mouse.

I need some simple app to let me easily spot it at a distance, so I can watch TV or something and glance over to see if its still priming or not.

I can't be the first person to have had use for such an app, so do anyone have any leads or ideas on what to use?

I just got a great idea from another forum: using a simple animated .gif

Since I know a bit or two about making anijmated gifs, i can just make a custom one, but I suppose any decent sized one scavenged from image.google.com that moves regularly would do.

Just thought I'd put that here in case anyone else needed the same tip
