    HyperX problems

I've been running my NF7-S at 215 FSB solid for the past couple of weeks, and the memory async at about 320 or so (it's DDR333). So I decide to get 2 x 256 of the hyperX 3500.

Set the bios to bus/mem of 215/215, cas 2-3-3-7 (exactly what it's rated at), and i get errors like crazy.

End up finding out one stick will work in single channel at those settings, the other one gives errors.

Just to confirm, I test it on a P4P800. It gives errors. After a few loops, the errors go away.

Ok, so I put it back into my system, and now I can do dual-channel 215/215 without any errors in memtest.

Except that in windows I start getting blue screens when I'm gaming, for the first time since I installed this board.

Is there any way it could be my northbridge causing problems? Is 215/215 more stressful on it than 215/170?
Because if not, I KNOW 215 is stable, which means it's RMA time on this stupid hyperX.

Our other tech here has 2 x 256 he's been running for a month or two, so he's bringing them monday to play with. Hopefully it'll work better, but I'm starting to think I should just get the corsair instead.

hyper x 3500 is great for nf2 boards! what voltage where you running those at? afaik you need more than the default 2.5v to get 215 2-3-3-7. 2.9v should be enough for it to run 215 2-3-3-7, if it doesnt then rma it.

PC3500 is rated for DDR437, or about 217 FSB. So running it at 2-3-3-7 with stock voltage should work fine

i agree. most of the time i see people take ram at the stock speed and set the timing way low.. like: hyyperx3500 @ 220mhz with 4-3-2-2 or somethign like that.. you know.. faster than stock timings.

my hyperx3500 will do 182fsb(my max, ATM) at 4-2-2-2 at 2.5v(undervolted by my old 8rda+)
    Dell Studio XPS16... no desktop
yes i have AIM, yes you can send me a message. EvilSpork3 i dare you.

That's why I'm having trouble figuring it out... I mean, it's set up exactly to spec.

I'm thinking I'll RMA the ram and find out if that was the problem. I'm running 215 FSB now and no issues. HyperX, issues. Blah.

You have tried both the sticks on their own in single channel mode (in the same slot)? If one of them works and the other doesn't it's bad, RMA it (doesn't do it's rated speed). If they both work in SC but not in DC then it's your northbridge.

Roger that... sorry, stock voltage on the NF7 is 2.6v. It doesn't even go lower.

That's the weirdest part... after burning in the stick that gave me errors in single channel, the errors went away, and then it would run no problems in memtest, at least.

But I was still getting bluescreens in windows.

I'm pretty sure the stick of ram is bad though, because in memtest, I'd get dual-channel errors at about the 509 MB point (right at the very end of the test). And then one stick was fine, and the other gave errors at like 253 MB. So it seems like the last chip on the second stick is teh suck

2.6-2.9v on my v1.2 too. And most nf7's overvolt the vdimm by ~0.1v as well so you actually get 2.7-3.0v.

If it won't do it's rated speed at that voltage it's faulty. Send it back.

"Old" HyperX won't work on Ultra 400 Boards. Mine won't pass 200 on the Rev. 2.0. On my 8RDA+, they were able to pass 227 MHz primestable with 2.8V

    I run my HyperX 3500 (2x512) at 220 2-2-2-6 timings and 3v.

Runs fine. I did have some trouble until I got a solid burn in and also got new revision HyperX. My sticks are A02.

Also get boots at 230 2-2-2-4 at 3.2v, but not stable for 3DMark runs but fine in Sandra.

Have booted as high as 240fsb, but crashes in windows. But thats a ddr issue, its a vdd issue...I need to redo my Vdd mod and I am betting the errors go away.

I dont care what the sticker says on the stick, you need more voltage for HyperX. 2.6v..pfffffffft,,NOT!

At fsb over 200 if I run DC and 2.7v, I get errors in memtest, soon as I give more voltage..errors go buh-bye.

I like my women the way I like my processors...naked.
I am not the HellFire that writes bios files. I work strictly on voltage modifications.
