I've never used the striker, but I have built several computers on the 680i reference board for friends.
I haven't had any problems other than a couple loose bios chips, which seems to be common. Maybe I'm just lucky.

yea you def got a good board.I coulnt get over 1200fsb on my striker.

Looks like that guy was dumping the duds on unsuspecting customers.

most people i know have had problems cause of the 680i chip its not good the maximus formula is a motherboard and so is the gigabyte p35

hi my name is mustafa i am getting a pretty good computer i am only 13 but i am pro at computers. i am getting the asus striker extreme with a q6600 cpu and a 8800 GTS graphics card but my problem is i dont know what ram i should get i was wondering i should get the. (KINGSTON HYPERX 1200MHz DDR2) so i was wondering if yous have any advice i should get anything else cause i want a beasty computer so if i could have some advice that would be wonderfull and merry chirstmas everyone

Get a ballistix set off Ebay AU. PC8000-PC8500 only go for about $110-$130 from there (brand new inc warranty) and are far better.

Forget the Striker Extreme.


Consider the following:
DFI P35
Foxconn Mars
Asus P5K series.


I would get the Asus or Foxconn.

CPU COOLER: Zalman FS C77= $69.00
Speakers: Logitech z-5500 THX= $365.00
MotherBoard: asus striker extreme = $399.00 (rubbish overpriced board buddy)
Ram: KINGSTON HYPERX 1200MHz DDR2 2GB KIT= $252.00 (overpriced, I would not pay over $180 for it here)
sound card: creative gamer= $155.00 (many ppl will tell u creative blows, look out for auzentech's prelude if u want)
computer case: zalman fatal1ty computer enclosure black no psu= $448.00 (rubbish again m8 lol)
Razer turantula= $135.00 (I'd recommend a logitech G11)
razer habu= $90.00

It's really not that good , just well built but the cooling isn't so fab as it should be and really it has the looks (if you like it) and the oh my god it's Jonathan Wendell's name on that case. But all in all it doesn't justify it's hefty price tag... just buy an Antec 900 case and your components will thank you for it and your dad will too prolly !

you need to read the forums more....

go to the case section and look at the gallery, then you will be able to pick out a better case. I recommend a silverstone, antec or Lian-Li of your choice, if you've got the money its worth it to invest in a nice big silverstone tj-07 or lian-li A-70

Yep. I'm 13 also, and research will help you more than anything. Read lots of reviews, ask good meaningful questions, etc.
