doing final vacuum right now. at 56 microns atm :O jesus christ. i think my vacuum guage is broken or something... i didn't believe it so i hooked up in line as close to the system (yeah oil gets on sensor but if i clean it regular should be fine). having a hard time finding's a good 1/4" t line. 56 microns still

hope to finish the tuning tonight. will be tuned for 230 watts.

    regards

finally a bit of an update.

    delay is-

    1) blew fuse
    2) didn't have fuse, so i started re-doing wiring
    3) didn't have new psu, took 2 weeks from hong kong
    4) went to the nederlands, overlapped with the psu from hong kong.

Nothing is screwed down, the wiring still looks messy. Its because every wire is about 6" to long on purpose. once all locations are decided it will be cut to exact length.

    a lot of wiring...

need to finish wiring the 12vdc, and the grounds then i THINK im ready to start tuning again

    well thread revival.
Want to work on this again:
    Subsequently i am going to:
    Remove all wiring from build
    Remove from case
    Remove gauge
    Remove HPCO
    Remove compressor
Braze in larger compressor (9.1k btu)
    Pressure test
    Vacuum
do some super quick wiring (walt look away!, jk no open connections)
Try with pure r290 and see what i can get her to hold.

Will you be using your new case? I would recommend R-22 with those badass compressors (which are IMHO total overkill for an SS unit, but ... we're Xtreme ), you know it would hold great load!

    hey!

maybe... The case i had made for this will end up in the trash most likely. its just way to flimsy...

r22? i have r290 and r402a... both a lot colder then r22 but no r22 here. its gotten pretty expensive in the past year!

just going to use r 290 too see how it holds a load. i don't even remember what cap tube i have in here!

When you use stranded wire "tin" the end with soft solder so the strands don't crush and separate when you tighten down the junction block screws or put terminals on the ends of the wire.
    The Laws of Thermodynamics say:

Zeroth Law: "You must play the game."
    First Law: "You can't win."
Second Law: "You can't break even."
Third Law: "You can't quit the game."

Do you wanna Play Thermodynamics ???????? I forgot "you must"

Here in Germany it's forbidden to that. We have to use "core cable ends" to comply the electronic laws (VDE) . I love them , instead of buying tons of tools go and by them and a good tong .

It dropped from 200 to 197 in 1 day. Im going to see if it comes back up in the temp swings.

    cheers

This could be just the yield of the temperature swing. Are you sure you're having a leak? Try pumping up the nitrogen up to e.g. 30 barg and test for a week or two.

Unless he is keeping it outside would temperature really have an effect on the psig? I mean, even if you lowered your thermostat 5 degrees, would it even convect to the system in <24hrs, let alone make a noticeable difference in pressure?

I was having the same suspicions. 40 bar? er- 450 psig?

ill raise it to ~20 bar and see how it does. i have noticed that temperature does fluctuate the pressure quite a bit. Going to see if it keeps dropping tomorrow. Considering i used a lot of parts i had used around my garage its possible it had a leak somewhere (i brazed the evap months ago)

Are you pressurizing through just one side of the manifold?

Sometimes it will take a while for the pressure to equilize through the metering device. I would wait another day to see if it dropped anymore.

    Yes

btw it is now using 9' of .031" tubing. i think before it was just overcharged.

its holding 300psig for about 20 hours now

    well f*ck my life.
    ive wired it according to
    http://www.panasonic.com/industrial/...s3r126b-1a.pdf

One thing to note- the 3 pins (c/s/r) on the compressor are not labeled and not lined up exactly as on the pdf.

Im using the overload from the 6,660 btu compressor.
The capacitor is a 40uf, 440vac (er- in that ballpark for volts).

When i try to start it i hear a buzzing noise but compressor does not start.

Ill try fiddling around with it some more, but does this sound like a dead compressor, dead capacitor, et cetera, bad wiring, et cetera?

ive 10x checked over my wiring and it seems to be correct.

    cheers

hey man i might try a smaller capacitor most of the rotorys i have ehter use 230vac,270vac or 370vac never seen one that big even the ones i have for my 1hp rotorys are no biger the 370vac just toss on the 3in1 and see if it starts if it starts then you know it is not the compressor
