    Scythe Ninja Copper Anniversary model

    Specs
    Ninja 6 heatpipes CPU cooler
    Heatsink Dimensions:110 x 110 x 150mm
    Weight: 1015g
    Included 120mm fan: 115g
    Fan Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25mm
    Noise Level: 10.70dBA
    Air Flow: 40.17 CFM
    Speed: 800rpm (±10%)Kaze Jyuni model
    Bearing Type: Sleeve Bearing

The new Ninja Cooper is designed for two different mode of operation.
Firstly, as a performance level solution when coupled with a 120mm fan and secondly as a passive heatsink for silent operation and the Ninja is designed to dissipate heat via six copper heatpipes(380mmx6mm) connected to the base of the heatsink.

Thermalright IFX-14 vs Scythe Ninja Copper

    Methodology
Please keep this in mind when looking at the results.
the room temperature was measured at 20C for all tests, but temp fluctuations, different mounting and user error can account up to 1-3C of inaccuracy in the obtained results.
System was stressed by running 4 x orthos for 10mins and this application pushes the temperature higher then any other application
The CPU temperature was measured with Coretemp and lowest (idle) and highest(load) value recorded.

    Onto the test results
Thermalright IFX-14 vs Scythe Ninja Copper

    Intel QX9650 3000MHz
    120mm Kaze Jyuni model 40.17CFM

    Intel QX9650 3000MHz
    Fanless

    Intel QX9650 3600MHz
    120mm Kaze Jyuni model 40.17CFM

Passive CPU cooling can be quite a challenge with recent high end CPUs but it's important to know that having a high end PC system and keeping it dead silent, won't be possible, for now.
Today the Scythe still stands strong and I recommend the Ninja Cooper to everyone if they want to build a silent system but he is very heavy and I don't care about that cz the retention system is strong enough to hold that 1000g of cooling.

Is the Ninja Cooper one of the best air cooler on market?
Time will tell, so stay tuned!

Nice review. Comparing to a TRUE would've been nicer though.

What I absolutely hate about Scythe heatsinks is their somewhat odd choice to slap an old style heatsink onto the heatpipes. Does this not defeat the whole purpose of heatpipes because there will be thermal dead spots in the heatsink where the heat just sits and cannot be piped away?

TRUE is better than IFX. So, I dont think Ninja can get at the best position.
Also, its weight is more than 1 kg. :S

QFT. I saw this title and I thought "I bet they corrected the fin density on this... they must have". Then I saw they hadn't and I died a little on the inside. Oh well.

pipes are spaced out a bit more tha nthe reg. ninja, and they look larger as well.

I have a ninja cooling a B3 q66 @ 3ghz, with ninja's stock fan...66c loaded. I can only hope this does about 55-60c with the same cpu...but that seems liek a tall order...

Loose fin density is the exact reason for Ninja's good performance as a passive cooler.

passive cooling is a myth, all passive cooling requires some sort of fan moving air across the object in question. Ive proven this over and over again with test results. With out moving air, passive coolers just heat up until they hit saftey shutdowns or burn up completely.

looks very nice and the results seems nice to, only it is a bit to "heavy lol" xD, but like mentioned a TRUE 120 would be a better comparison.

I'd love to see some results with both of them with fans in a push-pull setup(or even push-push/pull-pull in the case of the IFX-14.

Now that might be a force to be reckoned with, but i dont think i would have the strength to lift it up out of the box.

yeahh !! it would be fantastic

    some more tests

    room temp @ 18c
    Ninja Cooper + 1 San Ace 260CFM
    Yorkfield 4300MHz @ 1.7v(I can run 2d06 (4 cores) at 4370MHz)

    Crysis at 1280x1024 - high 4x/16x

and sry guysbut I can not include the TRUE on the comparison cz now its a bit hard to keep the room @ 20c(17c actually) and it will be not fair enough .
anyway ,in the same conditions the TRUE will beat both easily
but i have something to show.
    TRUE + 2 x 260CFM vs TEC Cooler

It's a pity. I've never used QX9650, so it's difficult for me to analyse your results of Copper Ninja testing.

What in God's name is that monstruozity? Are Scythe thinking of going in the onboard videocard market with that or what?

AriciU, it was just an experimental cooler. As far as I know Scythe wasn't going to sell them on the market.
By the way, what about testing new Ninja with 2 fans?
