    QX9650 @ mini-cascade | ATI HD3870 CF Stock

    Setup
    - QX9650 cooled by mini-cascade (-85ºC)
    - Asus Maximus Extreme
    - Cellshock 1440 1800 7-6-6-18
    - Silvertsone OP1000W
    - 2 ATI HD3870 in CF- stock cards @ 900-1340

The cards dont let me boot with more than 130Mhz PCIe - in this setup can boot with the 2900XT's in CF at 145Mhz PCIe

    First the old Aquamark

3DMark 2006 (low CPU speed, mini-cascade not calibrate for 4 cores)

3DMark 2005, with more acceptable CPU speed

+/- 1K less than the 2900XT result with this setup

And last, but not least My Favorite Game

Nature are more than 100fps lower than I get with 2 stock 2900XT CF in exact the same setup other Tests (cars, dragos and lobbies) are very similar to 2900XT

Anyway this results are not to bad for 2 stock unexpensive cards

lower? That's odd, the memory interface can't hamper the performance that much, not to mention the higher core clock has given the 3870 the upper hand in most 3dmark tests

Yes lower heres is a 2005 in the same setup with 2 stock 2900XT at just 880-990 :

The diference is GT3, graphic intensive test, similar to 2001 Nature ..

I'm sure you'll be able to find those 2,5k somewhere else, Pedro!

Pedro, Radeon HD 3870 supports PCIe 2.0 which doubles the bandwidth by default so your cards are already a lot higher @ 130 MHz than Radeon HD 2900 XT PCIe 1.1 @ 145 MHz. I've been running my Radeon HD 3870 @ 142 MHz.
