only 217MHz 2-2-2-5 with my Corsair BH-5 sticks?

It seems that my two Corsair CMX512-3500C2 ( XMS3502 v1.1) sticks only do 2-2-2-5 at 217MHz
I gave them 3,3V but a Mhz more will lead to errors in Prime. I also testet each stick alone.
Also at moderate timings ( 2,5-3-3-8) they will only do 230MHz stable.

Maybe I forgot something and anybody has an idea to improve it?

My board is a AN50R with Athlon 64 3000+ and I tried HTT speed of 300MHz without any troubles. Also my Audigy 2 works fine .
But as soon as I run the mem 1:1 it maxes out very soon.

I hope there is a way to improve it.

Ok, after doing some further investigation in the forums here I also found out that the shuttle doesn't like corsair at CAS 2. I'll try CAS 2,5

    I thought all Corsair XMS3500 CL2 rev 1.1 is BH-5 isn't it?

Exactly true. I have three stick of 256mb pc3500 v1.1, all three of them run differently.

One of the three max out at 230fsb 1:1 2-2-2-5 at 3.1v(cannot take higher voltage than 3.1v or else error out).

I think your stick of XMS pc3500 v1.1 might have reach it max like one of my stick. Good luck though.

AFAIK, Corsair PC3500 only comes in 1 rev., which is 1.1 and has BH5 chips.
The PC3200LL rev. 1.1 also has BH5, the rev. 1.2 has CH5 chips.

Damn these sticks will not even do 220MHz at 2,5-2-2-6 and 3,3V.
I don't want to get back to 512MB.

    That is really annoying!

But now it's time to go to bed....I'll do some further testing tomorrow.

id ebay those sticks if they overclock that bad. my mushkin level II would only do 220fsb, so I sold it and bought corsair value, does 220fsb also and cost me half the price. 2-2-3-11 timings, only lost 400 marks, most of it single channel

Hmm, one thing I have never tried is raising the northbridge voltage is that vdd. How do you know if you need to raise this for overclocking? I have just been rasing vcore and vdimm.

2x512 corsair pc3500 c2 1.1 does 220fsb 2-2-2-5 @2.9v with my Abit nf7-s. Could be the shuttle causing problems and not the memory sticks......

about tight on my unmodded AN50R tried a few 256MB XMS3500C2 at 2.9v vdimm all do between 220-230mhz 2.5-2-2-6 with my A64 3000+

    it isn't the memory that's the problem as same 256MB XMS3500C2 do 240-245mhz 2-2-2-6 at 3.2v and around 220-233mhz 2-2-2-6 at 2.95v on AI7

I will try RAS to CAS 3 now and if that doesn't give me nice speeds I'll try to max them out in my friends NForce 2 board

Unfortunately I had the last pair of Mushkin Level II 256MB sticks from a shop here in germany but those sticks were not ok. They needed 2,9V to to run at 200MHz DDR. So I had to send them back. Because it was their last pair they could not give me a warranty exchange and I just got my money back.

Seems like 217 is the absolute maximum for the memory on my board
Prime errors out on everything >217MHz, no matter what timings I use.

The Shuttle board doesn't like to OC w/ every kind of BH5.
Mate has 2GBs of HyperX ram and only one stick (KHX3000/256/Single sided) will overclock properly. Doublesided KHX3000 wont OC much at all on that board even thou it can do 240++ on other platforms (K8N, P4C800, IC7 etc).

But I thought many people here are running the Shuttle with BH-5 and tight timings >240MHz. Am I wrong?
