Another dodgy looking 8800GTS 512mb Review

    http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/12...idia_8800_gts/

again it comes out same as GT.

the only thing making this version not easily the best gfx card is the low memory bus, which should only damage performance at high resolutions. 128 SPs, higher core/mem/shader clocks, G92 GPU w/ 65nm, better cooling. at low resolutions thing should blitz the ultra.

so are these review legit or not? hopefully reviews more will come out tommorow when nda is lifted.

well even if it does perform like a GT and the extra SP's are imaginary. it'll be worth the extra money when I overclock it to 800mhz.

it should do well. but like you said. if you play at high resolutions with allot of AA on the memory bus and amount of memory will hurt it.

im kinda at a stuck point here cause i was thinking about selling my 8800gtx then buy one of these but i play at 1680x1050 and like to have AA on and i dont want to cut it close.

i guess i can buy the ASUS 8800gt 1GB version and overclock the crap out of it

I heard the memory bus size is actually not that big a deal. Hence why they just brought it back to 256 bit, instead of keeping the 324bit (or w/e the first gts was).

Well somethings gotta be holding the cards back (assuming review results are true) and the memory bus is the only thing thats worse than the original.

That article states that the stream processors were disabled.
I think the only that was disabled in writing this article was their judgement or their lack of technical knowledge.
I mean the gts might not be worth $130 more than the gt, but to say it's slower is just dumb

i have no idea how that 265 bus isnt restricting the cards performance, i have a G80 GTS and as i OC my memory from 800 MHz (64 GB/s BW) to 1053 MHz (84.2 GB/s) i gain a significant amount in benchmarks, and get higher FPS in games. It absolutely must be limiting them.
The new GT and GTS may be able to compete with the GTX and ULTRA in lower resolutions without AA, but go up to higer res (1920x1200 +) & turn on AA (like we actually game with) the new GT and GTS will get owned.

I just got a BFG 8800 GTS 512Mb, I can confirm that it is around 1cm shorter than the HD2900XT it replaced but the PCI-E power slot is on the back (facing the hdd cage) while the 2900's is on the side opposite the slot so there's effectively no difference.

Anyone know if it'll take a DangerDen Maze 4?

    Hehe nice try!

What I mean is can I fit it without having to remove the memory heat spreader like I had it on my 2900?
