    Insulation questions

I changed from using a Mach II GT with seal string(what a mess to remove ) as insulation to a SS unit. I've read the stickied guides, http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=104456
, but still have a few unanswered questions.

I understand that whether you use seal string, armaflex, or neoprene, your goal is to keep moisture from condensing on your phase head/CPU. I can see how by using seal string this is possible, but it seems that using neoprene or armaflex would not make an airtight connection. I'm just having a hard time picturing how exactly it works and am a little bit nervous.

What is the conforming spray Silencer mentions? I've Googled for it, but can't find any matches. Is it important? Is there a replacement spray I can use?

This thread helped answer a few questions, http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=168175. I don't feel comfortable enough trying the plasticine that's mentioned, so I plan on using dialectric grease. I'm to fill up the socket with the grease, and apply it liberally around the socket. Any suggestions on what to do or not to do?

Again referring to Silencers guide, I need to cut out a gasket to fit around the socket, leaving a hole just large enough for the phase head to make contact with the CPU, correct? How thick does this need to be? A little bit taller than the heighth of the CPU? So that it gets pressed down when making contact with the phase head?

How thick does the insulation need to be on the back of the board, between the backing plate and board?

I'm sure I'll have some more questions before I heat this PC up. I just don't want to screw up since this is new to me.

with the mach2 you only need seal string.
A air tight enclosure = no condensation.
MAch2 uses just seal string between the mobo, mount plate, mach2 head.
THe back side a heater and mount plate stuck together with seal string.
the seal string ensures everything is air tight .
WIth insulation ya insulate the socket making it air tight. You could also use seal string and sticky back tape in places.

Warning dope is almost impossible to remove and if you ever have to rma the board for a repair then your out of luck if you have used dope.

Are you running a Mach II or is it a custom single stage (SS) unit.

    Custom SS.

I wasn't going to attempt the dope, even though I'm not concerned about not being able to RMA. I was going to stick with nail polish.

Going to hunt down some sticky back armaflex in town today and pick up some more dialectric grease, as it looks like I'll be using more than I thought.
