ASUS Maximus III Formula Full Board block development

    Hi,

I would like to know your thoughts about this design.
It took great deal of thinking and designing to design this block.

Edited: The sound card FX will work with this block. Found out when I took it into my hands.
    I am Happy

Never mind this: (---What I eventually found out is that top PCI-e 2X slot will not be able to use.
So sound card will have to be on second PCI-e 2X slot.---)

Really sweet design. I would love to have a cnc to make my ideas come truth.

They are 2 copper pieces united by a central piece(that with EK logo)? The acetal is one big piece and a small one?(that with EK logo)

    Eddy,

Is it possible to save the top PCIE slot if you went to a two-piece solution? I am think something like the way MIPS did the EVGA Classified block in two-pieces.

Yes, it would require two separate blocks, but if it is possible to use the provided sound card then that would be great.

Great job Eddy. The full cover motherboard blocks are alot nicer. Its pretty cool your incorporating Asus' ROG into the block too.

+1 on Arrow though. It would be nice to have some sort of 2 piece option for those that need/want that top slot.

Cool block, but losing a PCIe slot is unacceptable, in my opinion.

    Hello Eddy... block looks good

Love the single block design blocks you guys are coming up with... any chance this block will have built in standoffs.

Also, I personally don't like the "ASUS ROG" circle. Since it's likely a Trademark and you can't reproduce the ROG graphics or the original font on the original heatsync it ends up looking like a cheap knock-off - not like the sweet sexy EK products we love and know.

It looks great Eddy. I'm puzzled why the "bridge" needs to be there, blocking the 1st PCIE2X slot. It looks like the 1st layer is already flush together so the bridge is not clearing any board components that I can see.

Probably a cost issue of making one solid piece of copper, but that is just my guess. Eddy, it looks great, love your full cover blocks, wish you would have made one for the Blood Rage.

Yes the acetal bridge is the tall one. The bright plate is the stainless steel plate to alow water to get pass without leaking.

The sound card could be used in second PCI-e 2X slot. But the VGA card would have to be watercooled. But I think if customer buys this block for MB he has to have watercooled VGA card.
I thought about 2 piece solution, but it just does not get to me... It has to be in one piece.

I am afraid built in standoffs will not be possible. But you can always glue the standoff to the block with any glue.

The ASUS ROG circle will be the one with the MB. It is attached to the stock heatsink with double adhesive tape and can be removed.

Like Utnorris already figured out. I cannot get that size of copper to make the block. Firstly I would have to order it and wait probably 8 weeks and the and the waste copper comming out would raise the cost too much.

Thank you all for the comments.

LOL, I just found out when I took the sound card in my hands that it will fit as it is so short it does not go over the p>CI-E 2X slot. Yay!

Saw some new block over Performance PCs, hot damn....
    http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...e7b144f47fcc45

I kept an eye out for the copper/acrylic EK X58 Classified but only saw the release of nickel plated, are you planning to do the same with this version?

Any future plans working with solid copper or copper/acrylic?

Maybe you should add this to the first post so people don't get confused.

The revision 2 FB Rampage II Extreme block for NB and SB block is in development.
It will cover also the chips under QPI card and the QPI cooler on top will be able to mount. But will not go for mosfets.

Eddy, to give you my personal opinion, i think the lower part (that's cooling the SB) doesn't suit the upper part as it should.

The upper part is pretty straight and square whereas the lower part is shaped roundish.

Making the lower part a bit more square would look better imho.

Having said that, do you mean the rog logo has to be transferred from the original mainboard cooler to this block? That would be a nice touch!

Still love your great blocks Eddy, shame you never made a full board version for the Rampage Extreme X48...
