Intel updated BIOS for their DZ77GA-0K to 0035.

And guess what? There's a new DX79SR board, docs at least. No other info yet, only install guide so far.

New board based on Z77, the Z77RE-75K. Seems to be the same as Z77GA-70K but with additional ThunderBolt controller. Funny, it seems to lack Dolby.

Visual BIOS available on the RE-75K and the GA-70K only so far, but the rest of the 7 series mobos will also get it during 2012 - not sure when exactly though.
What ever happened to XTU anyway? No updates for the newer boards, strange! Is it dead already?!

This mb is superior to other two x79,IMO. Only the price near US$350.

As far as I could tell only 2 additional USB 3.0 ports on the rear panel and an additional disreete SATA 6G controller for 2 additional internal ports.
Not sure if there is something else new though.
Maybe it's a new revision of the X79 chipset, better binning and with all the SATA ports working as they should in the first place.
A new BIOS should comefor all the X79 boards I guess.

Not sure if the Visual BIOS will come for these boards as well.

DX79SR TechProductSpec available. X79 C1 stepping confirmation. Finally Intel routed the USB 3 controllers through PCIe x1 lanes on the PCH, leaving all the CPU PCIe lanes free for multiGPU.

Visual BIOS looks absolutelly amazing, very discreet yet powerful it seems. Good job Intel, finally!
That's why I love Intel over any other, good but discreet design, performance is not the best but there's always room for improvement.
I just wish they ditched legacy already!!!

Still can't understand why Intel as chosen to call it BIOS still, specially from the company who started EFI some years back, to later become UEFI as an open standard. Maybe because people are still too much related to BIOS and a sudden (?!) change of designation would disrupt some people's understanding! Well, who tinkers with firmware doesn't have that problem and understands it well, I guess.
Comw on everyone, stop calling it decades old BIOS already!!!

On another note, for you early Ivy Bridge adopters, carefull because the higher temps seen on IB over SB seem to be related to the interface between the core(s) and he IHS, ony TIM on IB and flux solder on SB, at least on some ES. Let's hope Intel didn't let it go into final production. This accounts for the poorer oc on IB.

Here some specifications at large that you know better than me, IB better than SB.

Ivy Bridge use 22nm, and triple door design.

Integrated Graphic Solution with native support for Directx 11.

Memory Cache level 3 is greater.

TDP from 85 watts to 77 on the average SOC of the IB family.

Improvement over 20% for the global performance, and performance with Graphics the improvement is about 30%.

Yes, IB is indeed better but has some issues, Intel itself has already aknowledged that oc'ing on IB is not as good as in SB, but it's by design they claim.
The problem is that with the stacked 3D design the power density is greater, a lot more heat to dissipate. And since the interface between die and IHS is worst, well, oc gets worse.

The DX79SR is out finally, it's what the SI should have been in the first place.
Checked Intel's page but still not there though, but there is a review already out. 299USD retail price it seems.

Reviews of the Gasper DZ77GA-70K make a really nice board it seems, specially the Visual BIOS that some consider it one of the best around.

On a side note, what's wrong with logging in? If I try to login on the top right side of the page the password shows without hidden characters and the edit boxes aren't behaving correctly!

I'm kinda playing the waiting game, see what comes up.
For one, X79 would be my first choice but there are still some issues.
Z77 looks sweet but it's not full fledged.
I'm hoping X89 will be X79 with some of the Z77 good things and without some of the X79 not so good things, or maybe X79 D0 stepping will fix at least the illnesses.

I'm also waiting for UEFI (visual BIOS) to get matured, still not available in X79 platforms - maybe it comes to the DX79SR. That would be an almost perfect board.

I see you are also facing the same quandary Manuel
It is difficult to pick between them, Z77 will give us great performance now, but I feel the platform is rather short lived. X79 (hopefully that D0 stepping is not too far off), theoretically gives us a longer living platform with OctoCore IB-E drop in at the end of this year/next year.
I just wish the X3960K was priced the same as when I got my QX9650.

Yes, Haswell will be here early next year with a new socket 1150 so IB will be out in a year.
If issues get fixed in X79, and with IB-E on the horizon well, it looks a stronger platform for the future. Still, quite expensive though.
Still have that QX9650? Quite a beast that one, I was going to get one as well but too expensive and since sockets were about to change I didn't. Great proc though.

Maybe you know when Intel could release the new BOXDX79SR, this could solve a little bit my concerns about other Platforms from this great Tech Co.as Intel is.
As far as UEFI boot hopes, this new MB could contain our problems solved,IMO.
BTW, we'll need maybe a year to get a stable & safer MOBO's with new Sockets for new CPU's to expend our money.

The SR and 75K are already available at Intel.
Paty, I don't really like IDU, it's too old. I remember it like that for years. I much prefer IDCC.
Intel removed the BIOS Test tool from our page. What?! Why?
The SR has now the same BIOS 0494 as the Siler, I'm not sure about those improvements on UEFI support. No Visual BIOS yet, I guess it never will come to these boards.

Well, I have some info that this tech is in use in other fields as aviation and if you know some of this , you could need to study something about
AirBus above A321.

It is not Dificult to implement Light tech in a MOBO but you need to reduce costs, and to accomplish with regulations (FCC), we need more time
to fix some issues on these matters.
