    What RAM?!?

Hey XS, I need help choosing between these 2 sets of ram.

    2x Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 2GB 2X1GB DDR2-800 CL4-4-4-12 240PIN

    or

    OCZ Platinum XTC PC2-6400 4GB 2X2GB DDR2-800 CL5-4-4-15 DDR2 240PIN

Price is nor problem, lets just focus on the performance. Which will be better to overclock? or will I even need to overclock? and is it recommended when overclocking cpu and gpu to overclock ram as well or can it be left stock? (ram overclocking confuses me lol, but if needed I'll learn)

If price is not a problem, look at the Ballistix 8500 instead.
    Windows 7 + SSD:
Mode: AHCI, default Microsoft driver or latest Intel RST
    Defrag: Off
Hibernation: Off (use Sleep mode, recommend a UPS)
Indexing: On (it only indexes a few locations, not your whole system unless you tell it to)
Page File: On (set to the minimum of 16MB if you have a large amount of RAM, disabling not recommended)
    Prefetch: On
Superfetch: On (RAM is always faster than an SSD - use it)
System Restore: Off (with regular backups)
Browser Cache: RAM Only, Disk Cache Off (How to with Chrome)
Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, Downloads to HDD (Public Libraries too, see above link about junctions)
    UAC: On!

I would highly recommend the Ballistix Tracer PC2-8500 from Crucial if you can swing a few extra bucks.

i'd say better off going with the 2x2 kit at the price the geil's are at now. 2 sticks draw less heat, and chipsets can overclock them easier than a set of four

So from a gaming standpoint, would 8GB of GEIL (pc2 8500 5-5-5-15) ram be better than 4GB of Crucial Tracer (pc2 8500 5-5-5-15)?
