These are the graphics I've been hoping we'd see from Crysis. I was a little sceptical when I saw the graphics bar dropping a bit this year while they were optimising and realised currents hardware wasn't gonna cut it with those uber settings. At least we know we'll still be able to achieve this jaw-dropping level at some point.

The guy has only mixed with the some of day settings, and used som of the nicer textures, not that hard to get those results, unfortunately my sandbox 2 is bugged and doesnt allow me to map som textures (only gives me errors)

    well
One thing is creating a game that looks like that, another thing is making it run decently on what hardware is available today.

yep, the first one is possible, the second one isn't

I cannot imagine the game could look even better with those 16 textures..

Sweet; hopefully this means this engine will have lots of life with ever improving graphics. Apparently it needs no updating to look better .Plug and play for developers on a budget.

get used to jaggies if you want the uber nice effects.

    OR

get a new mobo with a few gcards.

cant wait to see some 2x, 3x, 4x gcard results with this game on 790 /?other platforms.

    would triple 3870's handle this?

or do you still need ultra power?

I just ran the gpu benchmark program and I'm averaging 15.36fps in crysis (1280x1024, 2x antialiasing, all settings at very high)
This is with an overclocked 8800gt, quad at 3520mhz, 1100mhz memory.
I have a feeling with new drivers and tweeking by nvidia and crytek, that 18-20fps is doable.
I think in order to play this on very high at 1280x1024, the next card must be twice the speed of a gt.
It might be playable with sli once drivers get configured
I would like to see what else people are getting
    Asus P6T, I7-920, 6gb ocz xmp, 4890, Raid 0-1 Terabyte, full watercooled - Triple Loop 5 radiators

i get 18-24fps minimum with modded dx9 "high" settings.
    1280x1024 4x8x.
i'd like another 10 fps..but can only achieve that by turning off aa. :/ which gets me to 30-35 minimum.
i get the sunrays and the mist and all that jazz.
anyway very nice/impressive pics so far in this thread.

Yeah on high in xp with 4x or 8x, it runs smooth as a whistle, 30+
Very High is a different story though.
I have a feeling that new nvidia drivers will be out the day of the release

Well if you figure in ddr3 at 1500+, which has shown to improve frame rates by about 10%... add in the newer penryn cpus and the next gen cards, I think we are only 2-3 months away.
I think the mainstream user who is running an 8600gts is definitely a few years away

If the mainstream is so stupid it bought 8600GTS it doesnt deserve crysis gfx anyways.

Very awesome, I almost lost faith in this game's graphics. While still good it seemed very far from what the demo videos portrayed it to be

No offense. But I hate when people just blurt out something like that, and some listen. There is a lot of factors taht go into actually running a game maxxed other than graphics settings. Also, if Nvidia was telling the truth 6 months ago about their 1 teraflop card, with twice the shaders as a GTX, and with updated SLI drivers. I would say its a pretty good possibility the next gen high end card in SLI might be able to max this game at say a decent resolution of 1680x1050.

Hell, their new high end might be faster than anticipated, you don't know, nor do I. Remember that within a year they created an "almost" GTX at half the price with twice the OCing ability and less power consumption. These are the games that I love cause they push the hardware industry to make bigger, better, and more efficient hardware.
