For 3dm05+3dm06 the cards were run at 690/1150 each
For 3dmVantage the cards were run at stock - because even the slighest overclock caused massive artifacting.

CPU was 450x9 for all tests.
    RAM was 900MHz @ 5-5-5-15

PSSSST, go at least 5Ghz if you don't want to bottleneck the two 4870s.

It's because he's on a dual core. A quad would need around 4.2 to achieve similar result.

    Great results!

The video card market is really heating up atm. new releases and price drops every other day making pulling the trigger so very very difficult.

This thread here has def. helped me on my decision path CF ftw!

are both CF Bridges necesary for the crossfire mode?
I mean, 3gpu crossfire needs 2 bridges, why 2gpus need also 2 bridges?
    ANyone tried that?

Not necessary. In testing I noticed a marginal(1-2% difference) between 1 bridge and 2 bridges however such a small difference is easily within the margin's of error. I believe only 1 bridge is used to communicate.

Both bridges are there, so I installed them, it looks cool... Why not?
What are you GAINING by removing 1 bridge? Nothing.
