neither. Wait for yorkfield, it's so close, it would be a waste to jump the gun now. I'd say if you must, go q6600 since you'll be able to make use of the 4 cores later on, but if you're a strict gamer, then the e6850 might be better for you, especially if you oc

    e8400...but not available tonite.

in hindsight i would like a g0 q6600 but i dont think i'd utilise its cores...

which one out of q6600 and e6850 sells more units?

ok guys so i went on to get the E6850 it should be arriving sometime tomorrow, so for now i cant tell whether i regret my decision or not, i have a feeling i'm gonna be satisfied. Since the change in weather my loop cooled down alot more, my E6600 now idles @ 18 and 24 on load, with temps like that i'm sure i'll be able to get a good stable overclock on the E6850..

To be honest, it's probably close, people that go after mhz will go for the e6850, but almost everyone is going for the g0 q6600s. But I think the q6600 does have an edge due to the cheap quadcore aspect, so it probably sells more. Just look at the people here, e6850 for the ocers, q6600 for just about the rest of the conroe users

mm yeah i think the 'public'... such as me...
would take the quad simply because it seems like better value (4 cores). and not really worried about uber clocking.

but then im not sure the public really have any need for quads over duals either
duals still far outsell quads im sure, although why not get a q6600 over an e6600 ?
maybe more q6600's sold than for e6850 as u say...

at least with penryns we'll have more 'choices' for quad cores.

and with phenomx4's theres more quad 'choice' so the 'public' will start seeing quads as less of a niche and more of a mainstream thing...and slowly quads will increase in numbers ...and multiply across the land like rabbits ..and then i wake up..

let there be multitasking..and there was...and let there be multithreaded apps and there were...

I'm gonna get the E8500 when it is out...damn the expense and as OEMs use the Q6600 I would bet that it sells better , now if the question were what sells better in the enthusiast market then

for me personally until the tell me that games use all four cores and theres a real
performance gain i will stick with dual core and high clocks. Also due to the fact i use water i normally able to push the clocks that little bit further.
