    OCing my e8500

    hey all just need a helping hand into this on my ep45t extreme
    iv been playin with the bios a bit
    i bumped up the mulltiplyer to 422 which gave me 4.01 ghz
    and then bumped my vcore up to 1.25
    dram to 1.52
    CIA2 is disabled and the memory is set to standard as in not fast or extreme
    it boots up ok but its nor stable
    it will be fine like i run crysis on very high setting for 10 mins or so
    look up internet all that stuff after this i turn my pc off
    come back later turn it on again then it crashes wen i get to windows so i reboot with out changing the bios and all is fine

    Have you stress tested your overclock to make sure it's stable? Sounds to me like you havent. You might need to increase your vcore a tad to remain stable at 4GHz. Also, its your FSB that you changed to 422MHz, your multiplier is set to 9.5. Also, 1.52v on the RAM? Are you running DDR3?

    yeah ddr3 default is 1.5
    how would i stress test the OC

    There's lots of programs out there..I use ORTHOS. Just google it and it'll show you where to download it. I'd also download CoreTemp or RealTemp and see how high the temps go while you run ORTHOS. A good stable overclock (for me) runs ORTHOS for 12 hours.

    my orthos normally crashes after like 6-7 hours, but not cuz my cpu ain't stable, it crashes cuz windows had found an error....

    so i'm using Prime95, which is like the same, but it seems stable to me

    at the moment it seems to run alrite at 3.8 with vcore at 1.25
    but yeah il get those and c how il go
    is there any other settings i should be tweaking to get a more stable outcome
    other than the mutiplyer, fsb, vcore and dram

    ALSO IS THERE SOME SORT OF IDIOTS GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING THE BIOS FUNCTIONS AS IN WAT DOES WAT OR IF YOU CHANGE THIS THAN IT WILL RESULT WITH THAT

    yea the gtls! if u set them correctly u can lower ur vCore!
