This whole thing would be a non issue if boards had 12 slots and were 2x the size they are now.

It's all subjective guys. Some of us love our silence and go out of our way when it comes to peace and quiet.

And while the TR solution may be quieter, it doesn't matter for on my current setup as they won't fit!! The only solution that makes sense for me now's a pair of GTS. I wish I could be cool like you guys and bite back 'n' forth over who has the superior aftermarket solution, but some of us will have to deal w/ stock crap!

Bought an XFX 8800GT (625 core factory OC) and an HR03-GT + 92mm fan. The stock cooler seems to have a slightly larger fan than most of the pics that I have seen of other 8800s floating around. My temps went from 53 load with stock cooler down to 46 max at load when playing Crysis.

    Minus the Ram Cooler..

Where did you get that from, and about how much? I can only find that at ForzenCPU, and it seems kinda expensive.

What I want to know is this: What do you guys use to connect the SLi cards
when you're using one of these huge heatsinks? I've put a Thermalright HR-03 on one of my cards, and now I can't get the bridge past the fins and heatpipes!
I want to cool the top card, too, another HR03 just plain won't fit, and I haven't found a bridge long enough to get around 2 HR03's, let alone an HR03 and an Accelero S1 or S2! What are y'all using for bridges?

Most modern Motherboards do not require the connection..

This is true, as mine is presently running in SLi without one. But my understanding is that without the bridge, a loss of bandwitdth occurs across the PCI-e buss, as it is forced to carry the info that would have been carried on the bridge. Right?

XS might not be for you then man, because XS stands for Xtreme, and taking up 5 PCI bays to cool a graphics card down 2 more degrees is well within qualifications of this forum. XS = not for the faint hearted

The 2 PCI slots on my X38T mobo are like the old ISA slots on my old Intel BX mobo, useless.

I can't believe you are actually quoting something from 30 Days ago...

Basically, you are challenging weather or not I am "Extreme" or not... LOL.... So here is my reply to you...

I understand that there is the desire for good cooling.. If you doubt that I understand, you really should look at some of my threads and posts..

I did up an entire report on the VF-1000...

It only takes up 2 PCI slots and lowers the operating temps by 30 degrees...

Bend the HR-03 90 degrees, you get all your PCI slots back
