Reaper 8500 won't OC on Maximus Formula

I am running 400x9 on my Maximus formula, my reapers won't do even 401. I have tried upping the voltage all the way to 2.4v with no go. I left the timings on auto and I have also tried 5-5-5-15 manual. I tried 450x8 which gave me 1081mhz on ram but that is a no go as well. Any suggestions? Will upping the NB or SB voltage help with the ram oc? I would be happy with 450x8. Maybe it's just the board and I need to wait for a new bios.

Anyone? No ideas? I ran memtest and can make a few passes at 402 fsb. Anything higher they fail at the end of test 5 everytime.

up nb to 1.5 or so.dont try and force tight timings at first leave at 5\5\5\15 just increase speed thats all.tighten timings later when speed is there.i have a set of the ocz sli 8500,they do the following stable below.they DO NOT like 2.3+ volts if u want them to last. 2.2 v is the sweet spot.

took my spreaders off of em and put 2 40mm fans 1\2inch away from em.

Well I have tried your suggestion with the 2.2v and it seems stable through memtest and with multiplier of 9 set on the cpu. I can run stable at 400x9 no problems, but I could before as well. The problems start happening when I change the multiplier to 8 and try to run 445x8 (1069 on the memory) or 450x8 (1081 on memory). I would love to be able to run 450x8 because that gives me my best scores. I am testing 444x8 right now with a dram voltage of 2.3 and the memory is 1067mhz that is 1mhz over stock. Lets see how this goes.

400x9 ran %100 more solid(stable)then 450x8 fopr me in any application.i dont get 1 fps more in ANY game using 450x8.i could care less about impressing anyone with "scores" ,i need stabilty.my pc runs like a top at 400x9 check links in sig.and btw im running ddr800 at 4\4\3\4\10 1t,its faster then ddr 1200 at 5\5\5\15 in pi,3dmarks etc..

in the psu caculater your really pushing the utter limits using your "Corsair HX620" in your setup btw.u need 700watt+

Ok, well I am not working on this to impress anyone with scores either, I basically use them as a guideline to see if I am getting better or worse performance out of certaing settings. My main reason for wanting to run 450x8 is because I can oc my ram slightly and still be running at 3.6 on my cpu. If I set to 400 x 9 I can run my ram at stock or the next choice up in dividers is around 1200 and I doubt it can handle that.

This sounds like a BIOS issue.

I see you have posted at the OCZ forums. Someone should answer you shortly. I personally haven't dealt with this board yet.

hmm your right,i keep forgetting i can punch in my ram speed with this 680i lt.using my older biostar 965pt i had the same divider issue your having it was 9x400 running ddr1140 or 1200.the ocz sli sticks are really impressive is all i can say.the boards dividers and voltage limitations to 2.18v were holding it back but they ran at 1140 2.18v rock solid 24\7.there really good sticks.hope you get it figured out.i know running 450x8 my nb had to be bumped up from 1.47 to 1.54 to get it to run stable, southbridge stayed on 1.35v.watch your temps and your cooling in this voltage range on nb.hope some of this info helped.

railmeat i dont think he needs more than a 600W psu for a quadcore and a 8800gts... that psu calculator is way out of line

    Update:

450x8 with ram set at 900mhz = solid.

425x8 (I think, about that) ram set to 1082 and cpu around 3.2= solid.

    400x9 ram 1066, cpu 3.6 = solid.

    450x8 ram 1081, cpu 3.6 = unstable.

I've tried upping most all voltages, nb, fsb term, vcore, dram, etc... no go. I also tried lowering dram to 2.1 and it seemed to work for awhile, I thought I had figured it out until Prime crashed so I ran memtest and it couldn't pass test 4. Most of the time if it is not going to pass it will be on test 5. So back to square one.

Try cpu 9x400 and ram 1066 with 5-4-4-8 or 5-5-4-8 timings. Should be faster than 8x450/ram 1081 with 5-5-5-15 settings.

hi family guy i actually tried 1066 with 5-4-4-8 or 5-5-4-8 timings and a no go,wont boot, way to agressive(atleast for 2.2v).now he could do 380x9 on 2:3 divider giving him ddr1140 5\5\5\15 2.2volts rok solid.i reformatted on last mobo swap and didnt save %70 of my photos but here is what my biostar 965pt was running before i yanked it out for the dfi 680i and cellshock ram.

Ok here's some more findings. I can memtest all nite and day with the ram set to 1119mhz with a divider of 8, that puts the cpu around 3.4 or 3.2 I don't exactly remember. I can Prime Stable all day and night with small fft's (stressing mainly the cpu) 410x9 with ram set to 1079mhz. As soon as I try to blend the memory and cpu at 410 x 9 I run into errors. Now I know that the ram runs stable all the way to 1119 so I am very confused now. Basically I can test the ram and cpu separately at the desired settings but together they do not pass. I have set all voltages to auto, set them over and under specs etc... I am about to just be happy with 400x9 1066 ram. I mean that's still great, I just was hoping to oc this ram slightly.... well, because that's wat we do

Updated to 0602 bios as well. It actually allows me to boot at 1200mhz on my memory but it is not stable. Whereas 0505 did not.
