    Overclocking at Intel 2007

Last year we got a chance to visit Intel's lab in Stockholm and play around with the soon-to-be-launched Kentsfield processor. This year we were invited back, but this time it wouldn't just be three of us from NordicHardware. Pretty much the entire elite of Nordic overclockers would be there and we would alll have access to the now launched Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 based on the Penryn architecture. Earlier this month we posted some teasing news about the performance of Intel's new Core 2 Extreme QX9650 and while we do have a full review of it coming up, we present you with this article/diary of what happened up in Stockholm.

"After trying to write the first page of this article six, seven or perhaps even eight times, I came to the conclusion that maybe it's just best to say it like it is. Right now I'm traveling home after having experienced a weekend that will forever be remembered as one of the most exciting events of my life."

Good times. I hope Intel keeps this going. It is doing great publicity work for them. And pro's like the Nordic crew ensure that we get to see good results.

No.....That's what happens if they give you a CPU to play at an event and BEFORE they give it to you, they say to you that they want it back afterwards so to give it to three magazines to review it too.....and IF it comes back from them, then MAYBE I could have it.....

You're telling us that Intel took the Yorkfield that they gave you back ?

Magazines gets priority in most countries in Europe, except Sweden \o/
Intel, AMD and the rest have realized that in Sweden, Internet media is the number one source of information for most computer interested people.
I really feel for those of you who have to be second to paper magazines, but I know how it feels because AMD used to favor magazines here too, and did so with the FX-60 launch. They changed their priorities after that \o/

That's true but...to have a magazine review your new hardware on launch, for this example ( the QX9650 ) they need to have the hardware a month in advance, so to have the magazine publish the QX9650 review in launch time ( November ) they need to have the CPU before mid October...
That sounds like a excuse for taking back a CPU now

Some people can't say where they're located on the map, no wonder worse things happen
Did they rediscover Scandinavia this year ?

Well, who needs them really when we have third party companies to rely on?
And with them you have the big plus of not being treated like you're the worst thing to ever happen to NVIDIA. They actually like working with us so I can't really say I miss NVIDIA in that way.

It still sucks that NVIDIA refuses to acknowledge the Nordics when we're actually world leading in IT and have one of the highest density of computers and overall electronics in the world. I can't imagine what the hell they were thinking when they decided to actually cut out the Nordics.

Besides, NVIDIA was very poor at supplying us with information even when they had a Nordic office. To be honest it's hard to tell a difference from before and after.

I'm just glad we have Thomas at Intel Sweden, a guy who actually actively supports and understand overclocking
